First of all, apologies to doing TVR reputation no favours when our (usually very well behaved) Griff disappeared in a cloud of steam after sitting in traffic for 45mins on the way into Santa Pod yesterday. irked

Never had a problem before but it turns out one of the fans has packed up and the other had a dodgy connector so it's not overly surprising it got a little toasty.

Some kind chap handed me a big container of water to refill the thing but didn't hang around to be thanked, so in case he reads this, ta very much.

Need to find a new fan now!

PS. Saw a 4.7sec 317mph quarter eek - top fuel drag racing has to be seen (and heard!) to be believed, what an incredible spectacle

Spooky, my Griff`s clutch briefly wouldn`t dis-engage while sitting in that queue too - think it boiled the fluid - had to hold it on the brakes and yank the lever out of gear with 2 hands! Was fine 15 secs later, and since. Water temp was fine though. Surprised I didn`t see you.
My ears are still ringing from several side-by-side Top Fuel races - I`ll happily sit in a queue to see/hear/feel that!

Urs backed that run up today too so it's a new euro record you saw. Awesome machines.

Were either of you chaps in the dark blue Griff parked in the camping area near the start line?

I live 8 miles from Santa Pod, and when the wind's in the right direction, we can hear the top fuellers in our back garden. And a lovely noise it is, too!

No, ours is red. Saw a blue Chimeara and a blue Cerbie there too, so plenty around. All rather on the slow side, though .......

Terrible shame about the incident later on. My mate and I were only saying how few incidents they have considering how close you can get to the action.

My sister went to this and was telling me about this "incident". What actually happened? She told me that the police ended up shutting the event down and declaring it a crime scene?

That's very sad; see link here http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/no

Hadn't heard anything of this until you mentioned it just now, then found the above link from the Eurodragster website.

Best wishes to all concerned.

Yes, dark blue Griff, but no, not that one, I was parked near the entrance by the time I got in.
Damn, I had the best day spectating ever, now very much tinged with sadness. Deepest sympathies to the unfortunate chap`s family.
