Heard a bit of a tale today(yesterday) that some vehicles are down on police computers as "Assist only" meaning don`t stop them, is it a load of Bo11ocks, just a yes or no will do.

Your getting to an area that if a BiB was to reply he could land himself in trouble.
Best just contemplate eh?

I've got no problems saying that for sure the armed forces have some vehicles which they refer to as "no stop plates", they have basically got a agreement that means it is none of the polices business what they are or are not doing and they will not be interferred with. How the BiB refer to these vehicles or view them I have no idea. I'd guess that other security services have similar. However if you were ever driving one and something came to light which you couldn't justify the pile of poo you'd find yourself in would make you wish you'd faced the plod and a court, they take a very dim view on taking the piss and impose internal fines way above what a magistrates court would.

i think we can safely say it is not bo11ox, security services, undercover arv etc will all have appropriate tags to prevent intervention from the 'normal' BiB. As DVD says no serving BiB will state such information on an open forum!

Years ago, my brother used to work for a defence contractor and travelled between sites with drawings etc. He was under instructions not to stop for the Police, but to drive to the nearest Military base. The cars were just standard Hertz/Avis hire cars, so wouldn't have been 'tagged' in any way.

Presumably also instructed not to drive like a tit and thus warrant getting stopped in the first place?

How do the police then tell the difference between "I'm driving on to the nearest military base" (there's one on every street corner eh?) and a "failure to stop"?

Just curious

I've really no idea, and it was never explained to him either.

I know some truck drivers are advised to do the same thing, and they have a card to hold up to the window, but he never had anything like that.

Stopping with a card saying im going to the nearest cop shop before i get out of the car or speak with you is not going to be fail to stop.

Just driving off will result in a rather sharp shock namely a Stop Stick and some time in the cells.

We dont know if you are going to the nearest base or police station unless we are told so we would treat as fail to stop and deal accordingly.

No I know, but in the circumstances here, where the driver has no card and has been told not to STOP (so presumably any explanation is out of the question) how do plod tell the difference?

We dont, We will treat as fail to stop unless there is other information on the vehicle.

But if there is no information ie if its a hire care then im afraid its fail to stop and we will try to stop you.

Am I the only one here that does not know what "assist only" means ?

Or is everyone too scared to ask?

If a pic of an "assist only" vehicle was developed from a scamera would it be simply put in the bin with the negs destroyed?

I would have thought a man in your position was eminently qualified to tell us?

or do you just launch a missle from your car at the scamera?
