Seats and harnesses.

Morning all, Iw ant to change the seats to buckets, something like Cobra Monaco's. Also want to install harnesses.
Any advice is welcome, as this is a first. i do want to retain the ability to change the seat position, as I won't be the only driver. Also need to keep inertia belts.
I am losing the rear seats if that makes any difference, and would be quite happy to put cross braceson the rear part of the integral roll cage.
This is just for track days, and to let clients have some fun!!
(And does anyone have a solution for towing points, the hook under the front of the car is way back, and they had trouble getting me out of the kitty litter at brands)

You can fit a 4 point harness to the standard belt points using long thread eye bolts, this means you can keep the inertia belts as a lot of race harnesses are NOT MOT approved.
I have standard seats and wide 4-point harness and it feels great, my suggestion would be get the belts first and see what you think.

Can you give any more details on this, like the make and model of harness and the fittting method ?

I thought you bought an elise for trackwork and were looking to make the Cerb an auto??
I take it you've seen the light and will make the Cerb into the track monster. I'll be interested to see what happens cage wise, as the standard cerbs torsional rigidity is a bit pants, I cant believe the rear of the standard cage isnt already attached to the chassis!

You bought a car and then forgot about it? Have you looked in the back of the garage, it might be under the workbench...
No, I meant that i bought it (August i think) sold it in October, and it was such a forgetable car that i have.
(and in the back of the garage is a Rotax Max that hasn't turned a wheel in 3 years, and a Yamaha Pro Moto that hasn't moved in 2)
Back to topic though, Still need advice on rear roll cage, and anyone got an idea on what to use on the floor / space behind seats.
Also towing hooks?

May be worth speaking to Rollcentre - they should know *EXACTLY* what works. Not only do they specialise in cages (or atleast used to) - they also used to have a track prepared cerbera themselves, which was quite quick.

Yes - you can buy part used slicks from race teams such as mine, if you are running 18" wheels in roughly a 9" width. Alternatively you can buy new ones from DemonTweeks or from places like HP Tyres in Silverstone (for Dunlops).
As for tow hooks - what you need is a short length of webbing/tow strap, looped through the towing eye on the chassis and cable tied near the front/rear of the car where it can be reached if needed. The strap will need to have a sufficiently large loop on the end for the marshals to be able to get a tow hook into.

This was suggested to me by one of the sprinting guys just the other weekend at harewood, think I'll pop out to Machine Mart andget one...

APM have a Cerbera with a full roll cage in it, not sure who made it, but they did a good job. Might be worth asking them.

Appreciate the help with the tow strap (ordered). I am hoping to end up with a fixed eye front and back though (get to put the Tow Point sticker on then!)
