I have been looking for a 968 sport as part of my great porsche owning strategy.there is a tasty sounding low 35k miles example on autotrader in an ok colour.Full history private sale.
I don't want to berate the guys ad in case he reads this but I think it is priced a little high.
Assuming the car is as it should be what do you think is really a fair price??

I have a pretty good idea as I have been tracking them for a while,it's just a pity the trading price will be nowhere near where the used price guides suggest.

P.S. Guys as wonderful as they are I am not looking for a CS (2 seats) speed yellow or lhd car...tks

Given a few scant details like that, I'd have a guess that it should be up for 15-17k privately, maybe 18950 maximum on a dealer's forecourt.

Low miles, rhd, sensible colour. Definitely worth mid to late teens to someone, but not the twenties.

How much was it up for? Anyone is entitled to fly a kite, they just can't be surprised if no-one buys. It's a buyer's market at the moment still.

Thanks for the responses guys...
I got home to see Porsche Post on the mat...the car is also advertised in there offered at the same price of £16,995

Good car etc.....I was looking to pay £15k cash...nice call 9M!

Tried to get through to the seller a couple of times this evening.
Finally got through as the sellers phone was busy...
Pleasant guy, he sold the car at asking price, buyer collects on saturday!!
Nice one!...it just goes to show that good cars get the money.
That appeared to be one of the best cars I have seen advertised in the last 6 months...back to scanning the ads.At least I know where the market is now...

As good as the 968 is, have you considered a really mint 944 S2 or turbo? They are a bit lighter than the 968 and the turbo is quite a bit quicker with potential for 300+bhp.

Tks guys...but don't want 944T..This weks plan was to get a late 968 for running around in with a lhd 993RS for fun,for the same money as my 996 or less....I will keep looking for both cars as I prefer to get one of them before the 996 goes...in the mean time it is not so bad banging around in the sublime 996.

Hi Clubsport,
I was selling the 968 that you saw in Porsche Post & Autotrader for 16,995. The car was sold the next day and the buyer picked it up last Saturday. It now resides in the Brighton area. Maybe if i'd chosen Pistonheads it could have been a different story. Sorry!

Good 968s seem to be getting very rare now and maybe should have advertised it for a bit more - have had numerous calls including yours - but I think 15-18k is a good price if the car is original and is an un-abused example as my one was.

If it's any consolation, it told me a couple of months to find the car in the first place through almost daily checking of Autotrader website. Another will come up. I saw two in January; one at a dealer with 22k miles at 16,995 and another private sale with 38k miles for 16,800. They are out there, just keep looking. Good luck.

Hmmmm, missed the lilac interior on that one.....maybe explains why the mileage was so low!!

Absolutely replacing the beloved 968 with more Porc. Am now in the process of buying Boxster S, spotted on these very pages in the Classifieds. Zenith Blue with Blue hood/interior. Seems to be an immaculate car (I know the seller reads these pages - the car's a credit to you Gareth!!) Hopefully will be as much fun/pleasure to own as 968!! Any thoughts?

Very nice!...I am sure you will have fun, hopefully with the weather improving and the performance of the "S" I can't think of a better car you could replace the 968 with...I look forward to your comments on this forum about your new car.

P.S. If you haven't come across him on here yet "Don" is the resident Boxster S fanatic,I am sure he will be, more than happy to share his knowledge with you.
cheers
Paul (aka clubsport!)
