"PUPILS PUT ON WORLD'S FIRST PLAY ABOUT “SPEED” CAMERAS"

rofl rofl rofl

Yeah I'm sure just like smoking, kids won't think there's anything cool about speeding rolleyes.

I'm a little worried about that happening actually. The last thing we need is loads of 17 year olds trying to prove how cool and rebellious they are by driving fast.

fcensored me.

That just makes me sick. I wonder how many kids actually decided for themselves if they would take part in this "play", or was there a cash reward for doing so?

A few of my favourite quotes

scamera man said:

"Pedestrian casualties are down to the lowest recorded number, 1421, largely due to few casualties among children."

This could be due to kids getting ferried everywhere in 4x4's nowadays!

scamera man said:

"The popular conception is that teenage moped riders end up in crashes, but only two were hurt compared with 30 adults. Another 34 adults were hurt in collisions riding machines under 125cc compared with one teenager."

Know presuming that an adult is 20 and above (19 being last "teenage" year) that only gives 4 years as a teenage rider, compared to 20, 30, 40 as an adult. Obviously this means there are more adult riders than teenage, ergo more adult accidents. Added to the fact that most new riders are over 25 now, leaves very few kids on bikes any how.

scamera man said:

"Motorists who talked on mobile phones, handheld or hands-free, were as impaired as drunk drivers."

I hate seeing drivers on handheld mobiles, as hand-free kits are so cheap. Side note, why is it people in new expensive motors who use there phone while driving? Buy a bluetooth kit you cheap censored, spend £30k on a car, spend £30 on handsfree. But if talking hands free is as bad as drink driving, then we better start ripping out our spare seats, as having talkative passengers are as bad a 6 pack of Stella!

"62% saw speed limiters as a success story."

Eh, don't think my car has a speed limiter (yet). Runs off to check.

Yep definetly no speed limiter!

It is sick isn't it, how low will these Safety Camera Parasites go to garantee their future income.
Don't know why but I can't shake the image of Saddam patting that little boy on the head from my mind.

Ahhh so it was THEM at Harewood classic car show was it.

Had a good laugh at them, asking about prior opinion of speeding at 700m "ah but I've been a police officer for 20 years blah blah blah"...

"oh" said I, "so how do you get around having no depth perception and no possibility of parralax to judge distance and hence speed then", ignorant blank stare back, and I get the point he's a pleb of a Plod to lower himself to that work and poor excuses, and walk of shaking my head for effect!

hehe

And if you check the stats on their website you'll find virtually all the cameras have no effect at all. Especially watch fior those where the stats go down BEFORE the camera is installed.

Yeah that Gwynne is THE pits when it comes to this stuff, his penis must be so minute, is it any surprise the only way he gets his rocks off is to peddle this pap and abuse his position?

I do wonder, especially seeing as the local telephone tearaways like to rather unsubtly hold the phone up against the window and sometimes practically outside the car, how much of it is a resurgence of the Vodafone Man effect that blighted train journeys many years ago?

(That habit of making pointless calls very loudly as a "Look, I have a mobile telephone!" kind of gesture.)

Although that also begs the question, do they not realise that practically everyone has a mobile these days, in fact I'm sure that if I still ate cornflakes for breakfast I'd find one given away as the free gift.

Maybe it's more of an urban rebellion, "Look at me, I'm breaking the law!" thing. In which case, then yes, I can only look on in envy at the street cool of being parked up in front of a stripy Vectra while a couple of boys in blue indulge in a bit of tyre-kicking.

Actually, thinking about it, how the hell do you make a telephone call with the thing held up near an open window anyway? Wouldn't everything be completely obliterated by the wind noise?
62% saw speed limiters as a success story
Thats good then. Now where can I find out about this?
The number of deaths on the roads proves that speed limits are needed and I always abide by them as I don't want to be a killer
rolleyes
Keep the speed cameras......you never know who/what is going to jump out in front of you whilst you are driving
Good to know that making sure you don't speed gives you more time to look at the road ahead confused

And this is very serious information (last page):
Everyone is entitled to their opinion about cameras… for, against or undecided, it's up to them… but those opinions should be based on facts, not what they've read in the paper, or heard from some bloke down the pub.

To help people make up their own minds … as opposed to having it made up for them by something they've read in the papers or something that someone's said to them… the partnership has remodelled, enlarged and improved our website www.safetycameraswestyorkshire.co.
I'm looking forward to getting a nice balanced view on speed cameras based on facts then ranting

If you read that carefully it comes accross as clever word play.

"...teenage moped riders end up in crashes, but only two were hurt..."

That only says two were hurt, not that only two crashed. Adults are far more likely to get themselves damaged in an accident than younger people anyway.

The Fools said:
The latest initiative to keep death off the roads of west Yorkshire is a speed control safety camera on a motor cycle

This of course will be highly visible, just like the one hiding behind bushes in the other thread.

How the hell do they conclude that a guy hiding with a camera will keep death off the roads?? They must think the majority of public that see this for the nonsense it is, came down in the last shower. SCP's spin = An insult to our intelligence.

With fatality rates on the rise so far this year, they don't even question their methods? Like Safespeed says, when it's obvious the medicine isn't working, they decide to increase the dose!

From the mouths of babes:
"The number of people killed in road crashes in West Yorkshire between January and May is 12 more than for the same period last year. Provisional figures from the West Yorkshire Road Safety Strategy Group show there have been 44 fatalities so far this year, compared with 32 for this time 2005."

...which translates as "We've killed one third more."

Asshats!

These people should be shunned by polite society.

Of all the twisted stats, my favourites are:

1. The number of people killed in road crashes in West Yorkshire has increased. Therefore we need more safety cameras.
Translation:
Speed cameras don't work, more people die but we can still use that as an excuse to put more up.

2. Road casulaties up to April 2006 show that Bradford Tennagers are teaching adults about road safety. 139 youngsters (aged 5-15) injured, whereas 172 pedestrian adults (16-59) injured, less youngsters therefore safer.
Translation:
139 youngsters in a ten year age span equates to an average of less than 14 of each age injured (not just pedestrians).
172 Adult pedestrians in a 43 year age span equates to an average of 4 in each age. More than 3 times less likely to be injured, adults really are being taught aren't they.

What utter utter bcensoredcks
