Hi All, i am a new owner of a TVR Sagaris...loving it ! Very new to it all, still learning alot! I have read the manual a few time's, just wanted to check if i have done the oil check correctly. As soon as i arrived home i opened the vent and checked the oil at engine temp ( The OIL Stick screw top was fairly HOT)Awwch. I saw the oil steel stick read Min exactly ! So i topped it up using the OIL recommended by TVR called CARLUBE. It took 1 Liter, now it reads just abit over max! I hope it doesn't affect anything??? When you check the oil do you screw the cap all the way back in or do you just re insert it and take it out again? As for the water, i waited for the engine to cool down, opened the awkward Blue cap! Had a look inside and it looked like it was sitting fairly full, i read something about it being 10 mil's... i just want to make sure i am doing the right things! Would you say to check these once a week ? Thanks for any info :-)

Personally Im inclined to buy anybody a pint who can get the blue water filler cap off in anything under 10mins and still having all 10 digits in one piece, not bleeding all over your engine.

Ill be a little suprised if you have to put any oil in, mine doesnt use a drop between services!

Thanks for the feed back, It did say Min, so i have added a little! I thought to myself to rather have abit more than too little. Cheers

Worth keeping a diary of what you put in and at what mileage - helps the dealer assess for servicing.
Yes, they do get hot!!

Ideal level is between min and max so you did the right thing. I guess the perfect reading would come from screwing the dipstick back in all the way (ooer) but if you just dipped it in and there was oil showing then that's a good sign. Is the car under 6k miles or over? If over it should be fully synthetic oil, if under semi-synthetic. It's important not to mix them apparently. The cars definitely go better after 6k miles as I'm sure the other owners here will vouch for. In fact they go ballistic! Massive fun but the chassis is more than up to it.

On my Tuscan I use a small Aligator rubber wrench from B & Q, absolutely brilliant at getting the blue cap off...First used a larger one on the Chimmy, but there's not much room around the cap and the bonnet, hence a small one.
