Hi Guys,

I'm booking an event @ Buckmore in a few months, and I need to find someone nice to eat near by for a big group. Doesn’t' have to be posh by any means, but not a Harvester or Tony Carvery, an All bar one, Ha Ha or independent bar / food place would be fine.

If anyone knows of one they could recommend in the area would be helpful.

Thanks in advance,

Cheers,

R

If you're looking for a greasy spoon, then Nells Cafe, just off the A2 near Gravesend is rather good, although possibly not large enough.

There's a few restaurants in the Rochester leisure park or whatever they call it, just beneath the opposite side of the M2 bridge by the cinema - I think there's an American place, a Frankie&Benny's, and some other eateries down there that aren't too bad.

Don't think a greesy spoon will cut it, corporate event, taking clients out, big japanese car brand

Somethign chainy should be ok, I found that chiquito in the business park you speak of. We could always just go to Rochester if anyone can recomend somewhere there. That business park might work though, ease of access/parking etc.

The best eatery's within a reasonable distance are
1) The Swan at west malling.
2) The Lime tree at Lenham.
The Swan is closest (10 minute drive) and is quite chic. I have a lot of business lunches there and it never fails to impress

If it's not too far for you to drive into Rochester (10-15 mins?) then I can heartily recommend the 'Cumin Club'. By far and away the best indian I have ever been to... it actually IS a restauraunt, not just a fast food joint.

I live in Rochester. and Buckmore Park is 1-Min from my house. If it is a corporate event I would go to Rochester town, there are some good restaurants and you also have the Castle and Rochester Cathedrall. If you want the old English country pub fill, differently go too the "Robing hood Pub", it is a 2-min drive from the race track and deep in the woods.

That's super, although I've just looked at the numbers which are a little shy of 80! So, I think that'll probably rule out pubs, plus there is the small question of about 20 cars too

Thanks very much for all your suggestions.

hows about the Bridgewood hotel?? has plenty of parking, is by far the nearest place and had a good reputation the last I heard. There's also the hotel just along the road by the Rochester airport entrance (Holiday Inn I think) again lots of parking. I had an xmas meal there last year as part of a large group and that was ok.

Kits Coty is very close to Buckmore. I haven't eaten there in a few years but it was very good and ideal for corporate entertainment.

If you want to go a little further afield (7 miles) the Imperial Dynasty in West Malling has the best Chinese food in the world, bar none. The Soft Shell Crab in Pepercorn Salt is to die for/

Even China although don't quote me. I get enough spam without 6 billion of 'em after me.
