At last! I have found the right car, and subject to it passing the warranty checkover I should be collecting it next week. It is a 98 355GTB in red/crema/red with red calipers? Can't wait. And thanks to everyone who replied to my postings offering advice etc.

I love the red calipers, colour spec is perfect, does it have scuderia shields? Sports seats?

Deal done!and it will have its annual service first, so by next weekend I should collect it. Thanks for all the messages. Incidentally has anyone had the tubi "tube" pipes only fitted ?? The sound bite that manu played over the phone sounded great.

Congratulations James! Fantastic car and your timing is spot on. You're going to have a lot of fun..... I know which clip Manu played over the phone to you too. It really does sound sensational, and every time I hear it I'm reminded of the Jeremy Clarkson quote "a 355 sounds like God shouting"

Thanks 456, I had been looking for 2 months and to find a 1 owner car that had belts done 800 miles ago worked out brillantly.

Now I can't wait to go to Le Mans with my mate who has an identical car. It will be one of those once in a lifetime situations. It still has not sunk in yet that the car I was looking at yesterday is actually going to be my own

Well done! THAT clip has been driving everyone mad!

I was thinking about solo pipe only (as Manu calls it), but in the end I think just a tubi muffler is the more practical option. It doesn't sound far off that wonderful scream, but won't sound bad at idle either, which apparently the solo's can.

Best thing though, is removal of the cats...

Yep and unlike Mr Vulcan I do full day's work.....I don't swan around London all morning and slide off home a lunchtime....
