yes its me again with yet another problem, ill be lucky if i have any of the original car left soon, i was advised at the MOT last week that i had a wee bit of play in the steering rack, but was still passed, looked under the car last night and the rack is leaking fluid from the drivers side seal.

so anyone know roughly how much a steering rack costs new, and how much i could get one from a breaker, should they have one.

think the only possible things that could go wrong now are engine, clutch, gearbox or diff. iv replaced all other known common faults and wearing parts within the last 4 months, even if the car had a 3 year warranty most of the faults would have came after, will be interesting to see how a 3-4 yr old sagaris will fair when that time comes.

Had this with my Tamora when I first purchased it. It did'nt fail its MOT, but the MOT guy noticed slight fluid dripping out of the power steering mechanism. Ended up having a new steering mechanism fitted. Its a renault part apparaently.

been quoted £235 + vat to have my one fixed/reconditioned. and was told tvr would unlikely have any new in stock.

does this sound a fair price as im not sure how much a new one would cost.

thanks

They did recondition my steering rack, but it was on warranty and I'm not sure as to the exact price.

That's a good price for to repair your rack, reconditioned racks are £500, new racks are £750. How is doing the repair?
