Just wondering how this will be done.

Do Police have the authority to get a child out of the car and measure them?

Do they have the authority to enter the car and attempt to measure them sat down?

No need, driver states that it's an "occasional short journey" and the law doesn't apply.

Or driver states "I'm only carrying him as a favour for a friend" and again the law does not apply.

You would have to have really annoyed someone for them to even try enforcing this one...

Three steps to enforcement

1. Employ more police
2. Transfer them to traffic
3. Train them appropriatly
4. Send them out on the road

Oh, just spotted the obvious mistake - that's 4 steps. It will never happen then.

Does a short adult need a booster seat too?

Not me of course, I'm asking for a friend...

As above, the law already has a get out of jail free card built in.

If anyone saw Dragons Den last night, the law should make it compulsory to use one of that chaps Child Seatbelts.

If it's for the childrens 'safety' then why do school buses, especially those used for long trips not even have seat belts, let alone proper child sized belts? confused

You're all making the assumption that we have any BIBs out on the beat to enforce these new laws. Normally they're back at the station wading through mountains of paperwork (and making five copies of it) to ensure the local scrotes get their 3 hour jail term!
You know the wheely bins that have sensors in them? Coming to a car near you...seatbelt cameras! hehe

I know exactly how this will be enforced. Our local CSO , who is already public enemy number one is no doubt rubbing her hands with glee and preparing her tape measure ready for monday morning where she always sits outside the school harassing people. Yet another serious offence for her to badger us with *sigh*. I am SO looking forward to her face when she whips out her tape measure and finds my oldest boy is 2mm taller than the minimum.
