Thanks to an encounter with a pratt in a Nova who decided that he was going to run me up the curb, I have a slightly less than perfect alloy on me pride and joy. It was either that or long stint in the body shop

Can you guys tell me where best to go get a refurb done in the South East and what is the going rate?

If anyone has any 6.0 VXR wheels going spare/for sale let me know what you want for them as it might be a better option.

Cheers guys.

Neerest one to me is in Guildford, but they do have a few other place around and about.

Only snag is...the wheels have to come off the car and be sent off to Crawley area, but they do have a quick turnaround.

Or try Lepsons www.lepsons.com/

They are in Guildford, had mine done there and they did a perfect job. Not cheap though, I seem to remember they were £90 a wheel but you can just leave your car with them if it is more convenient.

How good is the finish of these companies can they match the originals are they still slightly noticable?
The reason i ask is I'v got two wheels that need refurbing thanks to the previous owner and don't know whether to get the whole set done.

Lepsoms are very good, almost a perfect match for original. They have a 'mix' on file to ensure a consistant finish. We always use them.

out of interest Brian, do they do the shadow chrome as well or is that the wheel we are already talkin about as they are certainly a bit more involved. Correct me if I'm wrong but the 04 VXR's had the Aussie GTS Coupe S/chrome 19's? Curious to know who is good for those cos had no end of trouble trying to find someone to do one of mine before Jace took the helm.

Yes, they do what they call "Black Shadow Chrome" which is basically a black coating underneath the chrome. I seem to remember they said there were only a couple of places in the UK that you can have these.

If it's of any use, I used a local "mobile" wheel refurbisher for my 300zx. No-one else (Wicked Wheels etc) would touch mine as they are split-rims, and they won't risk breaking the bolts.

Anyway, Wez's Wheelz (07871 453007) came to the rescue. He popped around in the morning, put my car on axle stands and took the wheels back to his workshop. He was back later the same day and they looked 10 times better. Not quite as good as new due to him having to "overspray" the split rim bolts, but he explained that prior to doing the job. Normal wheels aren't a problem.

He showed me his "portfolio" which included a Ferrari or two.

Cost to me was £50/wheel.

BTW, I'm in Ash Vale, near Aldershot/Surrey.

As Daz says....yes, we have tried many, these guys by far the best. Only downside is that they take a while, its normally a 4day + turnaround.
