Door opening if car inverted!

Sorry about the slightly negative topic, but I was wondering how easy it would be to open the doors in an Ultima if you were unlucky enough to roll one, i.e.. do they open outwards much before upwards to allow exit in such a situation, or maybe they are flexible enough give sufficiently?

I guess this is in response to the overturned Murcielago pics?

I would guess, that providing you could unlatch them, it wouldn't be too hard to break them right off if you really had to - given the amount of adrenaline you'd have flooding your system.

Let's hope we never have to find out eh

I think if one did land upside down, the side windows would have probably popped out and if you were in any state to climb out, you could perhaps go through there.

Not a nice thought though.

Yes, it was something i would never have thought about before! as you say lets hope nobody has to ever find out.

I was unfortunate to end up inverted in my cossie after a track incident, the roof was so caved that the divers side window was less than 6inches and I only just managed to get out of the passenger side, All the doors couldn't be opended even after it was righted.

My point is that if you end up inverted in any car there is a chance that it will be so damaged you can't get out.

On that note,
make sure you have a plumbed in fire extinguisher...

However, I do recall seeing the pics of one ine the states that rolled all the way down a hill side and caught fire, but the guy still got out, and the roll cage was more or less intact...

I would follow the same thought process. If you rolled, and I'm assuming more than once, rather than just toppling over then I doubt there would be much GF, glass or perspex left to worry about just climb out of the roll cage.
Again not a nice thought process.
