No clutch available?

Last year I bought a '98 Cerbera in the UK, brought it over to Germany and licensed it for the German roads. 3 months ago my clutch let me down, with the failure of broken fingers on the clutch spring.

The German TVR service garage can not get any clutch on the market. There seems to be no clutches available anymore, apart from the later upgrades which fit as well in the Tuscan. The problem -as I understand, but I am no expert in this- seems to be that 1. my original clutch is different in dimension compared to the Tuscan clutch and 2. the flat flywheel does not fit to the clutch. My German TVR service has no way forward and is waiting for a solution from TVR power to fit the later Tuscan clutch or to repair the broken one.

As there are many '98 and older Cerberas on the road I wonder if one of you has good recommendation or could offer any support.

My car is meanwhile 3 months down and I can not see any light at the end of the tunnel.

This is common, the only way you can get around it is to fit the later flywheel bellhousing and clutch system.

Its an expensive upgrade, but you have to do it.

Do you know a reliable dealer/service doing this job? I would bring my car over to get the job done.

Andy at APM automotive just did a very quick, good job replacing the clutch and slave cylinder in my 99 Cerb.

He's not too far from the South coast either......

It must be easier to have the spares sent to you and you have in carried out in Germany.

Thanks for your help, excellent. I will try to connect the German TVR service with APM, otherwise I bring my car over. APM is quite good located.

This might help, I was in the same position as you few months back, had to get new flywheel and bellhousing in order to fit new style clutch, however when I was searching around to find an alternative I found that Automedon in Blackpool, www.automedon.co.uk/ had apparently managed to identify that the early style clutches are also used on a Porsche
of some sort and they bought up some for their stock.

Surely this is worth following up.

If the parts can be got from another source it would make life a lot easier for a lot of people.

I have a spare clutch pack,
It is from the later 4.5 though, mail me if you get stuck.

As an aside. You don't need to replace the bellhousing on an earlier clutch, you can machine out the old bellhousing to fit the new clutch. (When I say "you", in my case it was somebody who had a clue how to work those spinny grindy things.)

I swear on my machined bellhousing that is currently in my Cerb
Had it done at topcats racing.
