Can anyone suggest (polite replies only please) where I could obtain the windscreen washer pipe that runs from the scuttle area infront of the winsdscreen and joins on the fixed piping attached to the wiper arms?

Mine is in black rubber / plastic (the TVR is a dark colour) but all Halfords and local motorist discounty type places could offer was clear pipe or cloth-braided pipe. shout I don't want that, I want black pipe!!!

I am in Notts, so somewhere local would be useful, unless I have to go down the route of contacting a dealer and being told "It's £10/inch Sir...."

I got some silicone hose from these guys: www.needforspeed.co.uk
The part number was SVH03-BK and it was about £10 for a 5 meters.

If I can find where I stashed the stuff I didn't use then you are more than welcome to a couple of meters - PM me if you are interested.

Thanks for the kind reply. I must be kind of dense silly (or of that age were computer illiteracy becomes compulsory) but what does PM me mean, and how do I do it?

Sorry, the early 40's is a wasteland of braincells.....

Mine split recently - just popped around to my local one-man-band garage and he charged me 20p for the pipe and nothing to fit it :-) Like a lot of these little places he keeps all sorts of pipes handy and just cut me a piece off a roll.

whilst we're on the topic, the metal 'nub' that connects this pipe down into the metal plate below the windscreen appears to have recently sheared off on my drivers side (no it wasn't me; no idea how it happened!). Has anyone else had this, and does anyone have an idea of the best way to fix it? Thanks.

Can't remember without looking it up, but if you read consult 'the bible' (and if you haven't got one, then get one!) you now have a bit of a 'mare.

I believe, and I'm sure that I will be corrected if I'm wrong, that the plate you describe has to come off...... not good.

I assume you mean the connector nipple on the mesh panel? Been there, done that and it's worse than you can ever imagine. Even worse than that.

You need to be able to change the connector/nipple without pulling it out of the tube below the mesh. Of course this cannot be done so you pull it out anyway. The connecing hose below then falls away......... Now you need to drill some big holes in the bodywork to get at it again (unless you have a late car with inspection hatches under the dash). Less conspicuous to make some holes engine bay side. The drivers side jet connector is very close to the bonnet catch though....

Good luck.

oh dear!!! The bible says the grill is riveted in place as well. So, is this a job for my friendly Guildford based mechanic then?! There's a service due soon, so I may wait. <sigh>
