Looking to join the Nobility - advice please

Been 'lurking' for some time now but have finally decided to bite the bullet and join you chaps.
Looked at a few cars this last week and think that I've found a good one subject to inspection etc. It's a GTO 3R.
She's just turned 3yrs old, 10,000 miles, 2 previous owners, looks very tidy but is two services short - it's had the 6,000 service on time but missed year 2 and 3. The chap who owns it is sound and appears quite handy and has changed the oil etc himself. Rear tyres also appear pretty low like a 1,000 miles left.
Couple of things:
what's a fair price?
How much - 2 x rear tyres?
who to use for inspection near to Derbyshire?
How much for a FULL service?
Any recalls/upgrades required?
Oh one last thing will I get one of them Sword thingies?

Hi Carl, I'll let others respond to your questions.
Regarding the "Sword thingy" (AKA: NVCS - Noble Virtual Ceremonial Sword) I will be updating the rules of membership (AKA: Order of Leancis Nobilus) in the near future to refelct more recent changes.
So my friend; you may get one and, then again, you may not!

As a guide phone a couple of dealers and ask if they would be interested in a 3R with 2 service stamps missing in 3 years.......The car and seller may well be sound but if it were me there's plenty out there with full histories unless the car is VERY cheap.

Depends on how much you are prepared to pay...

Check if they are SO3s. If so, there aren't any new ones available unless you get really lucky, so you'll be looking at a complete new set - budget around £800

Peter Smith is your nearest dealer according to the Noble website (www.noblecars.com), and the factory isn't that far away.

£800-2000 depending on what has gone wrong. The two services missed is a concern as a service is a whole lot more than just an oil change. I'd discount at least £3-4k off the fair price for those missed services as you could be in for a large bill.

There have been a series of upgrades done to the cars over the years, each done at the service point. That's the issue with two services missed, those upgrades will have been missed as well.
Unless this is your only choice I'd either go for a large discount or look at something that hasn't missed so many services.

Ive been ploughing through this website for a while now. Got a mate in Aberdeen who has an M400 who advised me to join. I am seriously consideriung buying a Noble and like the 1st post on this topic, i probably have about a million questions i want to ask!! Im in 2 minds whether to buy one now, or wait till i have a liitle more money to go for something like the GTO-3 or even 3R early next year. What advice can you Noble owners give me?
I have just sold my Supra TT (driving about in a 406 at the moment!!) so i long for a spots car back, but if waiting a few months means i will have a better car all round, then thats what i'll do. And by the topics ive read about on here (apart from some total idiot who went on about how bad the car was), i feel a Noble is for me!
Things like servicing for me might be a big issue as im up in Aberdeen. Also, i would use mine as a daily driver (id be keeping the 406 for rainy and wintery weather!) so does this mean any great issues other than more tyres/brakes/services costs etc? What like is reliability?
Anyway, if you could spare a bit of advice, or even some more links so i can read up about costs implicated with services, tyres (i read the S03's are no longer being produced so what is the alternative and price!!), new ECU on old M12 model, brakes (i am handy enough to be able to fit pads and discs myslef) etc, then it would be much appreciated.
Also, if i look at a car, and get the reg/details etc, am i able to post it up here to see if you guys know any of its history etc?

If your thinking about getting a GTO3 then I would wait for a 3R as it should have the LSD diff and maybe a track day sump.
If you go for a 2.5L like mine then the LSD is a must as my std diff went and it wasn't cheap. TDS can be fitted for under 1k. I still have the std ECU but there are people out there who can fix it if it does go wrong.
A set of tyres (RE050's) cost 555 fitted which was less than my old elise.

Bondy, I apprieciate what you are trying to say and feel for your wallet, However there are still a lot of 2.5's out there still running a standard diff. If you were one of the many unfortunate ones who's ECU had failed (3K Bill) you would be saying the opposite.

Yeah, some people have remapped the ECU to make the power smoother so as not to put so much stress on the Diff.
The ECU is as you say 3k for a upgrade. But back then as I understand it there was no other solution. But now there are people who can fix the ECU and re-map it (so i'm told).

the MBE ecu is a bit limited in my opinion - there are plenty of other ecu's that can do a better job and are easier to map - you can also get lots of other tricks like mappable boost control and anti lag - programmable shift lights, traction control etc etc etc
I can fit a super trick state of the art ECU and optimise the engine (remap) to give it its best possible performance for £3K
i think that is slightly better value for money !
and if you wanted to fit bigger injectors and bigger turbo's etc at the same time then there is quite a bit of scope for serious performance !

Dont post on here very often but feel i need to set the record straight. Its my car that the questions were asked about (so obviously a little biased!) and i dont want to feel that ive missed a sale because of people's replys.
Cars done just short of 10000 miles last service was at 6500 miles by a noble dealer. When the car was bought by myself and sent straight back to the factory for a full inspection with no real faults found and service upgrades were done. since then the car has done less than 3000 miles and ALL fluids were changed less than 1000 miles ago( brakes, coolant, engine and gearbox, clutch also a/c charged). Admittedly there is a stamp missing in the book but this is only because of time lapsed not mileage. car spends all winter in the garage and i'm not likely to spend £6-700 on a service for 1500 miles worth of use!
As mentioned to carl, i am quite willing to get the car inspected and serviced at my local noble service agent's .
oh, and as for the back tyres, they're hardly worn at all!

Got my 2.5L M12 Last December (05). It's my only transport so I have to use it every day. Not had to drive it in snow yet but it's been fine in every other type of weather. I had it serviced at Peter Smiths (derbyshire) and with two rear so3's it came to £1100. Which ain't cheep but not excessive for a performance car (or so I'm told!).
I have one odd problem with the fusses falling out and the engine managment cutting the engine. It happens in cold weather. Now I know what the problem it's easy to fix but it does mean I have to carry a screwdriver!

To solve that, take the fuse out and slightly 'twist' the spades with a pair of pliers about 5 degrees outwards (each side opposite to the other) of the fuse. It should then grip better. Be careful though, it's easy to crack the plastic holder and you'll then need a new one.
