Manchester / West Yorkshire - convoy to Tankersley

With the next PH meeting coming up on Saturday 15th March at Tankersley Manor - just wondering if there will be any TVRs heading East across the M62 from the Manchester direction? Maybe hook up for a convoy along the way at the services en route if anyone is interested???????/

Can I suggest a route other than the M62? If the weather is anything like today it would be glorious to blatt over the peaks.. The Woodhead pass, (A628?) joins the A61 just south of Tankersley and if it weren't for the fact that I'm already in Sheffield, I'd head over that way..

There are a few scameras as you get close to Sheffield.. Can't remember the exact details, but if work sends me in that direction this week I'll make a note and pass on the details..

Thanks Simon. I really asked the question to see if anyone is passing by me. I am between Jn 22 and 23 of the M62 so heading over the M62 or down through Huddersfield is likely to be the most convenient route for me. Although, I know the Woodhead Pass and it would be quite a hoot to go the long way round if it is fine, especially if there is a convoy. Not too many takers just yet though - but 2 weeks to go may change the picture.

It may be a longer route, but I would suggest Snake Pass, rather than Woodhead, which gets all the lorries in slooooooow convoys - at least you go past Ladybower, and it's posible to skirt the western edge of Sheffield, rather than hit the town traffic. Just a thought....

I think the West Yorks TVR CC are meeting at the first sevices down the M1 from Leeds at about 10:30, to get to Tankersley for about 11:30 to 12:00

West lancs group are meeting at the Tickled Trout (M6 J31) at 9:30 for a 10:00 start. We are going down M6, M61, M60, M67 to Glossop, THEN (and this is the good Bit)......

Snake Pass, then after Ladybower, turn left and use some very minor roads to get north (about 8 to 10 miles)to the A616. Then cruse the last few miles down the A616 to Tankersley

We are meeting with more cars on the A57 around Glossop before Snake Pass, anyone who wants to meet us here email me to exchange mobile numbers and we will meet up.

Anyone who wants to join us will be more than welcome, route plans/maps will be handed out at the tickled trout before we set off.
