The steering racks are prone to leaking, you dont say where the leak is front or back etc?

My PS Rack was leaking, filling the bellows with fluid. Only solution was to remove it and I sent it to Western Power Steering (put in Google) who reconditioned it for about £200. You will need a geometry reset as well though.

Been perfect since.

OPC wanted £1000 + Vat to do job.

Whatever you do, do not let the pump run dry of fluid - a new pump costs lots of ££ !!

thanks for the speedy replies.

if i don't drive the car, would it still leak ?
i have plans to take it for repairs, but waiting for my suspension to arrive,
so i rather prefer to have the car sitting at home than at the mechanics

Tend to dump fluid in a splodge from one or other gaiter, they split or come off , on floor in Garage .........clearly a one off
Alternative is pressure pipe from pump [in engine compartment] has a pinhole in it or the join metal/ to pipe is erroded ................pump will only fail if u ve been running it for a while without fluid and its run dry , takes a while
