You say gearbox is newly referbed? First thing I'd do is take it back to whoever refurbed it and get them to repair it (and get it out the car).
No ideas what it is / could be though I'm afraid...

In that case, you give them the car, for a reasonable amount of time (maybe a few days?) and advise them that it is their problem - not yours.
Do you have anything on your receipt reagarding warrenty etc?

Would be great if they look into it but it's doubtful. Their liability will be limited to the gearbox and it's repair, not with the rest of the vehicle or box removal. Unless of course, they initially removed and refitted the box.

In that case, can they find you a garage (maybe they know a local garage owner) who will remove and refit for "mates rates"???
thanks dickymint - no not rung yet as I want to rule out any other cause. As you say, odd that just in 5th and only realllllly noticable at about 50-60mph. When it does it, if you drop to 4th the vibration goes so it can't be propshaft or wheels. I'm just checking that it isn't a misfire under certain load conditions as it does seem to run rough at low revs at the mo, but failing that it must be in the box. I think 5th runs on a separate layshaft so it could be a faulty layshaft or bearing methinks...
