Gallardo exhaust system discounts
Quicksilver offers big price cuts
Exhaust specialist Quicksilver is offering PHers a special discount on its redesigned systems for the Mk. I Lamborghini Gallardo.
Products
Not all Gallardo owners will want the full F1 howl but most would prefer a bit more sensation to add to the enjoyment of driving, so QuickSilver offers a choice:
- Sports System: For the driver who uses the Gallardo regularly for commuting in town or long journeys, the Sports system is ideal. At low rpm this system has a deeper tone than stock, allowing conversation and the radio. At higher rpm (when the exhaust values open), the volume increases considerably.
- SuperSports System: This system is louder throughout the rev range with a wonderful and unique V10 howl at high rpm -- and fewer noise compromises.
Noise levels (taken 2m from centre 13 July 2004)
| RPM | Stock (dB) | Sports (dB) | Supersports (dB) |
| 1000 | 78 | 80 | 82 |
| 2000 | 82 | 83 | 94 |
| 4000 | 87 | 93 | 100 |
| 6000 | 92 | 99 | 108 |
Benefits include
- Reduction in weight of 14kgs, from the rear of the car even lighter
- Wonderful sound - around town or on the highway
- Will pass scrutinising at most track day circuits
- All original exhaust Sensors and Probes are retained in their original positions
- Factory tail-pipes with their Exhaust valves remain fully functioning
- Accelerated gas-flow draws heat away more efficiently to reduce under-bonnet temperatures
- Mirror polished finish
- 100 per cent aircraft grade type 304 austenitic stainless steel - Quicksilver recommends that the factory catalytic converters remain in place
Prices
| Product | Retail | PH price |
| Sports System | £980 | £490 |
| SuperSports System | £880 | £440 |
All prices exclude VAT and will be held until the end of October 2006 or until stocks last, according to Quicksilver.
Discussion
Most track's these days are 98dBs or 100 max. So far too loud at 108. My Gallardo must be running around 118 with no cats an a tubi on so I can only use it on unsilenced days. I had it tested yesterday at event with some 'clip on' silencers to damp the sound down and it was still kicking out 110db's!!
I guess the moral of the story is if you want to do any kind of track work leave it standard.
Andy.

£500 is not a lot of money, but without hearing what it sounds like, and knowing what testing it has done, you'd be brave to buy one, not for losing the £500, but for what it could do to your car. I remember another exhaust manufacturer (capristo I think) had problems with 360's specifically. I'd want to know more, definitely want to hear a sound file at least, or even better hear one in the flesh, before I put one on. Price is good, definitely, but I wouldn't buy on price alone.

I've still heard nothing from them, perhaps I'll give them another chase.
Out of interest, what harm could it do or what problems could you have?
I wouldn't have thought there would be much that could go wrong?

Causing the rear bumper to melt could be a problem if the fit is poor. I believe this has been an isolated problem for some aftermarket exhausts for both the 360 and Gallardo.
