I am getting some incredibly low offers on the car at the moment - £20k on sale or return is the best i've got or £18k to buy outright. Thats on a 54 plate with 6000 miles.

Anyone had any better luck? Also, have many people been able to sell privately?

Dealers are hoping they'll find a desperate seller. I'd keep it if you can't get a sensible price for it. It won't be worth any less in 9 months time!

Steven

I just bought an 03 plate T350C for 21k with 18k miles on the clock and that was private.

Good luck!

We all know who that will be. Tell them to politely go walk. As per others here better to keep than to give away.

I see you've had it on the classifieds for 3 days. Give it more of a chance - it should go privately at that price, in fact IMO you should be asking more for it. Ignore the dealer offers, they're just taking the piss and I can also guess who that was from rolleyes

Yeah, i put it in classifieds once i realised the dealers were taking the piss - apart from 1 dealer who gave me a very decent offer and who talked far more sense than the others...

i had thought that about the price, but the reason its at £25k is that the 12k service is due next month - that'll cost another £1k plus it has no warranty...which someone will need to shell out another £1k on...

So that puts the car at £27/28k private sale in reality..

I sold my T350 recently and found most dealers not interested at all and only a few willing to do sale or return.

Seems the TVR market has been very slow all year and approaching winter nearly non existant.

So - it's a very good buyers market and a poor sellers.

Hence - some dealers and many private buyers talk silly money.. and even dealers with well know customer have to slash all margins..

Tough times for sure but very good news if you are buying now with say a 3 year outlook on ownership.

From a financial perspective, I think that buying new earlier this year was the worse thing that I could have done. Thought that I appreciated the depreciation situation - but hadn't.

Now, with the new prices so extortionately high, it looks like I'm tied into the Tamora for...well, as long as I can see.

Not moaning about the Tam as I totally love her. But I love the marque and would like to be able to change/upgrade in a couple of years or so. But as a not rich person, for whom buying the Tiv was a BIG deal, I'm feeling a touch of chagrine......

Almost any car will lose big bucks in the first 2 years, slowing after 3 years and then levelling off. Sell a 1 year old car and get reamed.

Thumbs down to the dealers.£5000 on the trade in £5000 on the new one. Dont mean it really we all need to make a living, but it is a specialised market we are all investing/ suicidal in. If TVR are to be successful in new car sales we need a solid price for our used cars so we can then go and buy a new one every 18months to 2 years.New car sales need us used boys to buy back into the mark and keep the factory going.
I was selling, but have now changed my mind. Keep it, enjoy it and cherish it- till next year when it will be 2 years old - then ill think about it again.

I've been through that cycle - thought about selling when one year old, didn't, kept it, and cherished it. Now its 2 years old, am looking to sell, but the situation isn't much better believe me...

Sorry but with a market with poor demand (most car marques at the moment) it's not possible for dealers to do this.

They would go bust.

It's possible if you are shopping around and have a 1 ~ 2 year old TVR and want to part ex that you might be able to play them off against each other - as sales are so poor..

But you must be will to bargain hard and walk out and say - call me when you have a better deal.

Hard bargaining.

Why not

Can't see your advert, bud (afraid I'm a bit busy tonight to carefully trawl them all - that's a job for next week!)... can you mail a link to me?

Selling is a bit of a tough call right now isnt it? I have to say though that Ive a little smile on my face at the moment, it means I now have a legitimate reason for the car not being sold/keeping the car. It is up for sale, but in a slack market, means there are not many serious takers = David keeps a big smile on his face driving the car whilst also complying with the other half's demand that the car be put up for sale OK, so on the financial side things are getting a little squeezed, but well you know...having seen the Stephen Fry proggy the other night and a little bit of self realisation, f**k it You want a cure for depression, manic or otherwise...s'called a TVR

How are you getting on with all those aftermarket modifications David:

The Carbon brakes
Supercharger
Aerodynamics
Cutting the slats out. Etc Etc

Just curious
