Interference fit?????

I have taken my old 4.2 block to the specialists to bore the block out to accept the 4.5 liners.

I have been told that these require "an interference fit" and the company has asked me how much of "an interference fit".

Anyone able to help? Much appreciated.

On the factory blocks, with the factory liners, they are not an interferance fit!
On the rover blocks we used to run quite a high interferance, usually about .004" (although some places use less). But AJP liners just slide in with a bit of sealant on them.

Cheers Jamie, so I just have the block bored out for the 3mm or so difference in the liners that I can tell and then they slide in?

Well that is how Tvr do it, with a big squidge of sealant to stop water making its way round the side of the liner. In theory, the liner cant move anywhere, but I suspect that you would be worrying about saying to your machine shop..."well a bloke on an internet forum says dont bother with interferance, just let 'em slide in there", so of course I would say check with other engine people / companies first, but its fairly std practice.
One important thing though, they must get liner deck heights the same, or you will have a drama!

The website is quite basic, but its been done by the cheapest web person I could find...ME!
(Pretty good engine builder, not so good www builder )

We can provide pretty much anything for the AJP's, upto full rebuilds / upgrades, but we also do an engine setup thing, I have been suprised how many I see where the throttles dont even open up properly. As for the cams...it is taking a bit longer than hoped, but they are being done, and in my very own humble opinion, they should be more than just a cheap replacement cam if you know what I mean!
