Now we know the full circumstances of his prang, I think that we can accept that he is as much a Pistonhead, if not more, as any of us can claim and, as such, it would be a nice touch to send him a PH tee-shirt or some-such (possibly with a modified logo with a small 'ding' in the side of the head).
All of us know and accept the risks we take from day to day in our cars, just as he willingly accepted the risk of attempting (and obtaining) a British Land Speed Record. We only need Health and Safety present when they screw down the lids on our coffins if we have died from plague, smallpox or East European Scrot-Rot.
Hamster will make a full recovery in due course (having seen images of the wreck site, I would want to have the babies of the bloke that designed a car that barrel-rolled and bounced six times from 280 mph and kept the occupant alive and, in that process, I wish him the very best.
Perhaps the Beeb will have to finally admit the fact that we all know...
