Having had a clean licence for a number of years i have just received a fixed penalty notice for 45 in a 30. I am shocked because it is on a road where I might do 35 but never 45, but it was one of those bast**d camerea vans, our friendly and helpfull Kent polive are sending me the photographic evidence. So it will be £60 and 3 points.
Is there a camera detector that picks these up, the old Snooper that I have will only detect the Gatso ones, and on the roads I drive I tend to know where they are.

Hard luck - I had the same experience last year. My first points in over thirty years' driving curse

I have bought a Talex. Seems ok, lets you know of the location of 'possible mobile speed camera locations' plus all fixed cameras and red light cameras.
Subscription around £52 for three years.

Road Angel also tells of temp' sites. Don't they still have to have speed camera signs along that road though?

Yes there is a speed camera warning sign but there is a trevelo fixed camera as well. So the result is that everyone ignores the limit except the bit by the camera.
I wasn't even driving the Chim when it happened, I was in my diesel 406!
I suspect that the bast**d van was at the bottom of a hill where everyone speeds up to gain a bit of speed for the steep hill ahead.
This is a situation where you would have to apply the brakes to stay within the 30, and then change into 2nd gear to get up the hill, instead of staying in 4th throughout.
So perhaps I should sell my car and cancell the insurance. Then buy another but not register it in my name etc:
Seems to me that many people do this and get away with it. If you get caught the fines bu**er all anyway.
GRRRRRR!
No I wouldn't do that, I won't even drive to the post office to renew my road tax if its run out.
Makes me even more annoyed when I often follow police cars driving in dismal conditions with no lights, or speeding when they are clearly NOT on an emergency call

My Mate in the traffic feds tells me that by the time a detector picks up the fact that the vehicle in which it is installed has been illuminated by a laser based speed detector it's too late anyway as they get an instant reading. J

laser is detected 2 seconds before it is able to give a reading, by which time you can either anchor up, or use a jammer (which is illegal....if caught)

Excellent Camera database (including europe) and all for just £2 if you have one of the supported Sat Nav systems. It's definitely saved me a few times.

Errr have to correct you on that, 0.3 seconds nab time for the LTI & the Prolasers somewhat dependent on distance or if handheld etc, but normal cash van type half a second will have a speed reading. This is from A reading the manual, B actually owning them (privately)
