I was driving home from work yesterday through Marlborough in Wiltshire, when I spotted a convoy on Landrover vehicles coming in the opposite direction.

The convey was lead by a silver Disco', however it was the disguised Freelander following that caught my eye.

The car appeared (beneath its matt black vinyl triangular shaped disguise) to be a very second hand old shape car on the surface. What did catch my eye was the apparently wide track of the car, it's low ride height, and primarily its large 18" low profile 5 spoke wheels and tyres.

I wouldn't class myself as a complete anorak read however do have a good eye for what's what. I am almost positive, therefore, that the wheels that the car was wearing were from the 300bhp sporty Volvo R model that is in the 5 series type class (not big on my Volvo's so don't know the model, but know it was the ones that were launched in that horrible light blue green colour)

Does this mean that we can expect a 5 cylinder turbo freelander soon, with chassis dynamics and bodywork focused for street use (like the range rover sport) ? driving

Could be nice!
