Hi,
just been checking out some of the chain locks in my local bike shop. Is the Oxford Chain/disk/alarm thing any good. Anyone using it?
Got to lock the bike up at Didcot Parkway train station every day, starting a week on Monday. I thought a really visible heavy duty lock, and a good quality cover (also locked onto the bike), might deter thieves. In their infinite wisdom the council have also installed some very solid looking 'hoops' to lock the bikes to. The bike park at Didcot is right next to the terminal/platform, has a 6ft galvanised spiked fence all aroud it, with access only for bikes, and CCTV. You'd have to be one brazen, determined bike thief to go for it!

Problem is that the vast majority of bike thieves are brazen, and up front about the whole thing. The other issue is the complete lack of interest shown when a van is sitting there with the alarms wailing. Bike in van, bish bash bosh.
Personal take is stuff happens, but really not looking forward to it. Given its an old bike, now, I'm just hoping no-one has it on a steal for parts list.
On a semirelated note, if I go with the online parts /breakers sites, and put in the bits that I need (mostly fairing bits) how likely is it that some scrote will nick my bike to supply?

Get an Almax, one of the most indestructable chains on the market, most others can be cropped in next to no time, have a look on www.visordown.com/forums and search for Almax
