Gentlemen. It has just come to my attention that a seach on google for 'hamster donations' comes up with this very page as link #1!

Allow me to post the donation URL again and please do so at frequent intervals.

The amount being raised for Yorkshire Air Ambulance is fantastic and is far more than could have ever been envisaged.

However, and maybe it's too late, but would it not be better if, say, half the money raised went to Yokshire Air Ambulance and the other half was distributed to the UK's other Air Ambulance providers?

I am sure that their needs are just as great and their work is just as important. And, with donations coming in from all over the country, surely it would be more equitable if the national Air Ambulance Service as a whole were to benefit.

I think we have to go with the Hammonds wishes on this. Last night, Mindi Hammond issued a statement saying 'no more girly flowers, donations to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance instead.

I'm certain the other air ambulance services will get a noticable increase in donations due to the generally raised profile of the air ambulance service. People will easily discover on the www.justgiving.com website that they can donate directly to the other air ambulances.

When Kent suffered a tragic chopper crash it got huge local donations which enabled it to get back in the air. It now has a spare in the hangar! This time it's Yorkshires turn.

We will have an announcement about how the money will be used by the YAA later today.

What happened to the text on the justgiving page saying the money was going to be distributed to other air ambulances too?

In view of the family's wishes for donations to go to the YAA our appeal will stay as it has been from the start. However people can and should search for their local air ambulance charity on the justgiving website and support them too.

We had to resketch our plans in line with the statement made by Mindi Hammond on saturday asking for donations to go to the YAA. Sometimes in fast moving situations you have to redraft policy.

This morning BBC news 24 said:

quite a lot of Air Ambulance Charities have seen an increase in donations over the weekend.

I thought Mrs H.'s request was in lieu of flowers?

Still think it would be nice if more could be done to bolster the other Air Ambulance Services.

More people might donate more if they felt that it was helping a wider cause.
