Coppaslip/petroleum jelly round the outside after reassembling will reduce corrosion - but don't grease the contacts before assembling.

Del

Who's alloy rad are you using. Been thinking about treating our 500 this winter as I'm planning to remove told one to paint the chassis and I'm likely to replace the hoses etc so the rad would finish the job off nicely.

use white grease its far better than copperslip, get a good quality brand like wurth as crud and dirt dosn`t stick to it like copperslip.
people seem to use copperslip for everything on tvr`s!,it looks awful slapped every where.

Lanolin works well over earth connections. I use it on the boat quite a lot.

Why not? I've copper-greased all mine before reassembly. After a short while the grease evaporates or is used up by the fairies, leaving a coating of copper on the threads. Stops corrosion, conducts electricity. I thought that was the beauty of copper grease?

Me too - no earth issues just everything else failing. Copper Ease (grease - it does say Ease on my tin) on all electricals, new bolts etc when replacing/cleaning. Used it on the Taimar and on teh Griffs - brilliant stuff and don't undertsnad why dealers don't seem to use it and everything ceases up.
Derek - if you use it go for the tub not the spray. Spray is OK if you can't get in or so on te UJ's.

It's an insulator, so you'll only get conduction where it has been squeezed out leaving metal to metal contact. Obviously there's be no trouble squishing it out, but it's much easier to get a good conduction between clean contacts than dirty greasy ones.
