reading out street names

This is something that I have seen alluded to in various places - the Text to Speach function which allows the unit to read street names out - how does this work in practice (does it tell you the streets you are passing??) and how useful is it (this seems to be the key difference between the Nuvi 310 and 360).

Does not one have any views on this? It seems an expensive "extra" when you look at the cost difference between the Nuvi 310 and 360 - is it worth it> DOes it make driving easier?

Been looking at these myself, looks like you also get European maps with the 360 ....

yes indeed, however this is of limited use as the number of times I drive there can be counted on one hand!

Ah well, I went for th TTS anyway in the hope that it would be useful and combine distance and TTS for more information.
