Guys, does anyone know anything about these, have accidentally pulled the cord out of the male plug/socket for my broadband connection to my phoneline, now have a normal type phone male end & a wire with 5 different coloured wires coming out of it, I can see the 4 sockets they can go into but no idea how to recconect, any clues ?

thx.

Don't think you'l be able to reconnect it very easily as its a crimp style conenction. Best bet is to buy another, practically everywhere sells them - try B&Q?

You should be able to buy a new cable from any good computer shop. or have you got an old modem kicking around?... or for that matter any old phones? You could nick the wire from them.
You can re make the RJ-45(like) connector but it's easier to buy the whole thing.

the problem is......the cable goes through 2 walls and under an unnaccessable section of stairs, hence replacing the cable very very difficult

Is there any slack in it at all?

If so:

www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=18449&doy=search - crimping tool
www.solwise.co.uk/telesun.htm - plugs (halfway down the page)

It should be either 4 core or 6 core rather than 5 though...

To attach the plug, with the clip on the right hand side

For 4 core

Pin 1 - blank (white/green if 6 core)
Pin 2 - white/blue
Pin 3 - white/orange
Pin 4 - orange/white
Pin 5 - blue/white
Pin 6 - blank (green/white if 6 core)

Crimp.

It's called RJ11 I think.
