Of all the luck, my two month old rear Dunlop 208RR has managed to pick up a nail! The local tyre fitter tells me that they won't repair it so I need to replace it. Feck!!
My front has nearly 5000 miles on it and I reckon it is pretty worn, despite looking fine - the front was getting very slappy on a recent fast ride over some typically crappy roads. So I might as well change the pair.
So what do I change them for?
Bike is 2004 R1 and I'd describe my riding as more Roadcraft than Rossi.
So I don't think I need some super soft 1,000 mile track tyre. Half-decent wear and good grip in colder weather is higher on my list of priorities.
Any suggestions?

Michelin Pilot Power 2CT's. I've now had two sets on my 05 R1 and they are superb. I was always a Pirelli man until I tried the 2CT's and now I'll always use them. Give them a try, you will not be disappointed.
I've heard good things about these tyres.

Yep, I've heard nothing but great things about these tyres, and shall be fitting them to mine next.
Well up until this year i was a Bridgestone man - but tried the Pirelli Diablos this year on recomendation - OK, not bad - felt more confident cranking it over on the Bridgestones, takes a lot of time to get some heat in to the Pirellis. Nice tall profile giving plenty of side wall to work with. Wear seems good - covered a couple of thousand miles an there is still tread left! Probably wouldn't pick them again... Think i'd get the Corsa 3 next time.
Changed out my BT-014's to Pilot 2CTs a couple of weeks back - difference is amazing. Its still taking some time to get used to the way the bike flicks into turns! However, the 014's were a bit squared off but I don't remember the 014's being this good when I collected the bike.
I might try the Corsa III's next time just to compare...

Also note that 600 of those 2200 miles was running in! But... I use my bike for blasts only - all that hard acceleration shreds the rear...

Yes. The std Diablos are better for longer mileage. 2500 hard miles across Europe & the wear is ok. The last time I used Sportec's, one year came back with the rear totally bald, the other year I changed the rear in Pau, France.
My mate had the road going Pilot this year in Europe & his rear wore better than mine. Then he ain't as heavy as I am.
Out of all this lot what would you all recommend for a fireblade used for commuting? I used to have bridgestone 010s which I thought were ok if a little wooden and now I have 014s which are less wooden but wear out quickly. Bear in mind that this isn't for weekend blats but for commuting and because of the traffic the tyres tend to wear the middle out. Also bear in mind I ride in all weathers. I'm not after something that will last 20k miles but something that lasts more than a couple of months would be cool.

Dern, I commute daily on a 2005 R1 and have now got the second set on Michelin 2CT's on the bike. I managed to get 7,500 miles out of the 1st set of 2CT's and the front probably could have gone on a bit longer, maybe another 1,000 to 1,500 miles. I used to use Diablo Corsa's but could only get about 5,000 out of them. Admittedly I haven't tried anything else but I'm happy sticking withthe 2CT's as they have proved to be very hard wearing.
