In view of upgrading teh front discs on a 1995/6 Chim 500, the supplier is telling me that the same size fits 4.0, 4.5 and 5.0. I always thought the 5 litre had larger diameter brakes from the RS Cosworth.

Can anyone confirm this - as my car is in storage ?

They quote 260 hub diameter, 146 height

Actually he's not. From about 1996 all Chimaeras came with 500 spec brakes. Earlier 4.x cars had the 240mm disc setup though. The changeover was not that clean though.

Mine's a 94 4.0, October, and had 240 discs, I've just upgraded to 260, and they're XR4i 2WD disks with Granada calipers....

Thanks - sounds as though they may be right then. I assume an upgrade to 285mm is possible without any significant mods and could be teh way to go. I was merely looking to upgrade to zinc blind drilled/grooved discs and EBC reds.

Perhaps teh later 500's had bigger diameter?
