Hi all

Couple of newbies heading down to Le Mans in 2007, which of the 2 campsites listed above would you go for ? Leaning towards Bleu as it seems closer to the village, bars, food etc but any advice gladly received

Thanks

We're pretty much settled on Bleu Sud every year now.

Close to the track, mad friday antics right on your doorstep, short(ish)walking distance to Arnage (and then cab into Le Mans town centre for more beers), easy access to the local Super U supermarket in Arnage.

We don't worry too much about showers etc as we have a large motorhome in our party but facilities are good now and well maintained by the locals.

But I'm sure some here will have good things to say about Beausejour? Apart from the long walks!! Maybe see you on Bleu!! drink

Cheers for that.

I have now reserved a place at Bleu, not sure if it will be Sud or Nord at this stage, I guess it depends upon when we arrive and whats left (or are the tickets specific?)

Really looking forward to this, have been meaning to go for years but just never got around to doing anything about it

I went for Bleu, I can't remember why though!

Good to know it's near Super U though, I just need to borrow my dad's camping fridge and get some kind of generator from work! Maybe I can do a special stock clearence offer on one generator, just for me hehe

I was in Bleu Sud last year and I don't have much bad to say about it. It isn't close to Super U as in walking distance, but it is the last one on that road so it is very easy to leave the track to drive to Arnage.

Tucker, I see a silver A3 on your profile, is it your car I kept going past under the first set of trees on the left-hand path?

I'd go for Bleu anyday over Beausejour - we went through Beausejour in 2004 and 2005 on the want to the inside of Indy and Arnage and it seems a really bleak campsites with not much in the way of facilities. It also seemed strangely quiet both times around (2004 at around 11pm, 2005 at 3-4am).

Stayed in both, and each have their qualities, but for a newbie you made the right choice with bleu I think – it's just much nearer to most of the action.

Right! Ive been doin the Le mans thing for a while now. I've been to most of the camp sites and to be honest the best one I've found is Camping Houx, however this is almost impossible to get on to unless you book tickets and hospitality with a travel company like MRI and pay preimum prices. If you can speak french you could give the ACO a call and ask them for camping Houx tickets. These are bought on a first come first served basis. Most of the tickets ars sold on 'block'to tour agencys but, IF! they have any left over they will contact you within days of the race and ask you if you want the tickets! ITS a chance thats sometimes worth taking, ( its a lot cheaper ).
The last 2 years Ive been camping on Beausejour and to be honnest its beeen pretty good. you can purchase your race entrance ticket and camping permit upon arrival and the site is huge. On the site are portable shower cubicals and dotted around are toilets and wash stations. The biggest bummer this year was that paddling pools were banned! about halfway down on the site are some old barns in which on a friday night a band normaly play ( free entertainment ) also there is a noddy train which regulary runs to and from the grandstands, so you dont have to walk (much). Also you can walk or jog (not recomeded)down to Arnage town centre and get well and trully plastered on the sunday night after the race and watch some nut with a flying hat on entertaining the crowd !!!! IF you want any more info just ask! ps the General entrance ticket this year was 53 Euros

yer right on Houx, but we don't mind paying extra for having a good place to sit in the shade ,a few beers & chinwag with Perry McCarthy (1st stig) and having a quick chat with McNish between races !

And have to say an unpopular thing , but wasn't bothered about the paddling pool ban at all.
On a prevous trips, my Group have had to move our dripping tents as someone had put up a huge pool without thinking where the water would go to when they empted it!

They also assumed everyone else was leaving with them at 6pm on Sunday, so their flooding of the campsite would be no problem.....Duh!!

You're not alone on this one. We'd planned to take a pool but were quite glad when the ban was announced a few days before we set off. The amount of extra space taken up by pools would easily house a good few tents/vehicles. And, after a day or so of sun the water's not that inviting anyway.

I must admit it seems most people leave there brains behind once they get to le mans, the thing which really hacks me off there are the iditos that throw beer and water over our cars! by all means go to lemans but lets have a bit of respect for each other.....or is this wishfull thinking? Anyway to get back to the campsite question and tickets the price for Beausejour this year was 45 Euros. In reguard to Houx tickets you can E male ticket@lemans.org where your details will go on a waiting list and if your lucky! you might get tickets. I hope this helps you guys out.

sorry for the delay, been in france and germany...

the fezza is porschedrivers (unless he has change his name on here) and yes and no....

unless I have picked up a porker to take down or we have decided that one unfortunate individual will be taking a van with all the stuff me need (360 and exige too small) and going down a day early to set up shop.

the costumes will be coming out again and this time I think we will be doing a race down the arnage to see if batman or superman is faster.... hehe

Ah yes have to say vans are useful for hauling the camping stuff that can make things a bit comfy like gazebos etc, that may not fit in an exige or 360 .

This year one of our guys took a fridge in his type 2 vw van, came in very handy !

You'll have to make sure 'Superman' doesn't cheat and fly over the cop speed traps to get there first!!hehe
