Keeping a Noble out in the open?

Hi all,

I'm on the brink of joining the Nobility but I'm stuck, for the next few months at least, in a house which has no garage. There's space at the side of the place for two cars but it would mean keeping my new pride and joy out in the open even though not actually on the road. This obviously worries me on two counts:

1) Weather
2) Thieves, crooks and other ne'er-do-wells

Any of you guys keep your cars out in the open or is it a complete no-no? Anybody seen a Klingon-style cloaking device for sale so I can hide it from view?!!

Mine is outside most of the year behind big electric gates hence no probs with pikies . Its worth getting a cover have a look at noblemods they have some all weather ones.

Mine has spent a lot of time outside...in the summer...just get a decent breathable all weather cover.. No problems and keeps it nice and clean as well... Just check your insurance is ok with it not being garaged over night.
Also find that once the cover is on most people ignore it as it is just a "small low" car with a grey cover on it.

I believe mine was kept outside all year round by it's one and only previous owner.

No problems apparent.

Thanks guys - you're cheering me up already! Just looked at the covers being sold by Noblemods and they look pretty good and not too expensive either.

Hopefully I'll be moving next year when the domestic situation is sorted out and a garage will be a fairly high priority!

I'm driving possibly the worst car ever because I don't have a garage.An Alfa 145!

Won't be buying a Noble without a garage....but then I do live in Slough Gonna be at least 2 1/2 years until I buy a house with a garage, but will no doubt be worth the wait...so long as all you M400 drivers don't write them all off.

I would also suggest a cover - most paintwork usually fades quite badly if left out constantly in the summer sun.

Tim,

I've had two, both lived outside the whole time i had them and I was too lazy to bother with a cover. Both had a common feature which was a small amount of water ingress at the point where the door window meets the mirror mounts, dealers can usually stop/minimise this. Never had a problem with either, except for missing them.

Thanks Paul, that's interesting, and useful, to know. I'm just a bit bothered about vandalism around here as just a few weeks ago a friends Jag was parked just a few yards along the road from my house, while he was visiting, and his driver's side window was smashed and a TomTom nav. unit stolen in the few hours he was here. He was daft, I know, to leave it on show, but it shows you the kind of s**t which is patrolling the area.

I bought a cover a long time ago, with good intentions, but it is SO much hassle keeping on putting it on and taking it off that I don't use it any more. Cover is ok if car used once a week but not everyday. Just to cheer you up, the pikeys have been known to steal covers !!!
