Having been following all the discussion on which child seat to use in your Cerbera, I am about to buy a Britax Freeway. They are on offer from Kiddicare for £59.97 - this includes delivery (on offer to 30/9/06). www.kiddicare.com
I already have a Recaro Start for my older son (2 years 2 months), and he has put up with that for over a year, but I don't think that the Impact cushion that you need for the younger children is very comfortable - particularly on a long journey. We tried it with the youngest (9 months) recently and he was not too taken with it! I think the straps on a normal seat are better than a cushion.
Shame on all of you who are shedding your Cerberas due to the change in the law (I'll probably eat my words when mine are 6 and moaning about booster seats), but my 2 year old adores being taken out in the Cerbera, and routinely campaigns to go out in that instead of the Eurobox.

Unless you are short, I think you are going to suffer on space I'm afraid. Normal boosters and backed-boosters (like the Recaro Start) struggle to fit behind the driver and give enough space for child and parents legs. Seperate belted seats are even larger as they need to fix onto the standard seat-belt mechanism and thus you'll have even less space.
I looked at fitting one of our Britax 1st Class (similar seat) in the back of the Cerb and there was no way that was going to happen without the wheel at the highest positon and my knees either side of it - and I'm just average size.

I can't find anything that will reasonably fit in my Cerb, I had one of the belt adjuster things advertised on Dragon's Den, but it would seem will only work for hatchbacks.
I would like to obey the law if I can, but if there really is nothing that will fit then I may have no option.

I've got an adjuster from Safety 1st and that works well for my 4 1/2 year old, she's been using that for the two years I've had the car without problem. However, I've not been able to find them for sale anywhere, presumably as they're illegal to use with the new laws.
We have 2 Freeways, on in each every-day car. I used one in the Cerb for a bit, it is OK behind the passenger, who can sit further forward than the driver. The main problem is that the seat base raises the height at which the child sits such that there legs are above the recessed bit in the back of the front seats (older seat style, not tuscan ones)
We bought a Britax Hi-liner for the Cerb. It is a decent enough fit and reasonably priced at about £50 or so. Our daughter was in it from about 18 months old, which is younger than they suggest for this seat, but she is quite tall for her age.

The Brittax Highliner I just looked up says it is for roughly age 4 onwards, surely it can't be suited 18 month old or have I picked up on the wrong one. Does it hold them in with straps or is just a seatbelt across the front, pic just makes it look like a booster seat (albeit one with a back)?

But it's a similar design to the Recaro Start, which is for 9 months plus - unless the new legislation enforces the use of seperate (seat) belts for under 4s seats... The only major difference between the two is that the belt is held in place on the Start.

No point in fitting a booster if it does not do the above.
On the basis my my 4 1/2 year old fits in the backed Recaro Start and my wife can fit in the front without whinging too badly, I'd say that you should be OK, although without the child seat adapter (and seat cover plate) you'll need to find a booster which sits well in the bucket seats. No point in fitting a booster if it does not do the above.
I have noticed on mine however that the passenger seat runners are further forward than those of the driver's seat, possibly something to do with the factory child seat adapter

Yeah true enough but I guess that locking part is the key to why the Start is listed suitable for use from earlier. Was really just going on the age recommendation on the webpage I found.
Smithsi, seriously at 6 I would just be using the seat itself and a seat belt adjuster at best, that is what I do with my 4.5 year old and it is fine. They rears are little more than child seat as it is, if you are seen to be obviously taking steps to ensuring their safety, by using an adjuster, then I think you would have to have an arse of a BIB to pursue you over it.

I think the TVR seat is a Recaro Start it just has different covers on it.

They're all like that. It's done to offer more rear leg room behind the passenger seat because the passenger has no pedals.

Once upon a time you could get them upholstered in the same leather as your car but TVR made the lady who did that redundant. After that (or if you didn't pay for it) they were the standard black cover.

Tell me about it. We had a magnolia seat in our car for ages before we found our Portland grey one. There seems to be a bit of a shortage of them.
As I recall you got that just before I got my Cerb, after a bit more looking around I have up, got a quote for it, but decided it wasn't worth it in the end. Probably worth having the seat covered if you have a load of interior work done though I'd say.
