Wondering what they are like ... been thinking about a change of direction in my automotive toys department and have taken rather a shine to the Fury ...

Love the idea of the bike engine varients (fireblade or 'bussa) but are there any major issues or problems to watch out for?

I would be using it for a few track days, some weekends hooning, Le Mans and probably a Ring trip (although that may well be done on a trailer)

Alternatively, anything else in this style that i should look at?? (would be buying second hand as i dont have the garage space to build myself)

All I will say on the matter......

140 bhp.
6 speed sequential 'box
434 kg wet.

Quite honestly the best track toy I have EVER OWNED.

Live and Die to track day my Fury, there is NOTHING to touch it on a twisty circuit.
Nothing will corner as fast on road(ish) tyres.

Oh, and hearing it scream to the limiter at 12500 before I clutchless upshift !!!!!!

Had one too, 6,000 trouble-free HARD miles before I aquaplaned through a barrier and killed it. (A048 tyres and a big puddle, not the Fury's fault). Awesome car, as fast as any other similar kit car without ground effects and wings, Beats 7 clones over 100mph due to aerodynamics. Speak to Martin Bell at www.fishersportscars.co.uk for a chat, 8k will get you a used blade car.

Your aquaplaining incident didn't happen on the way to Le Mans this year did it? (if so, you are mentioned in last months PPC as a very determined character!!). We got lucky and had a dry run and the luxury of a roof!

Well, the owners comments are favourable too, think i will have to find one for a test drive and prospective ownership!!

Cheers guys (anything i should watch out for, assuming that every one will be thrashed, its down to how well maintained post thrashing!!)

I trashed mine 18 months ago, in France though. Get down to Brands for totalkitcar live and have a ride, hits home how quick they are on track.

John
I know Martin Bell from Kit car workshop / Fisher sportscars uk WILL be at Totalkitcar, and he will have 2 Fury R1'S doing demos.

I know both of them, they're brothers, both fast drivers, in fast cars, and with VERY good local knowledge of Brands.

If yuo are serious about a BEC, get along and have a ride out.

Becs are marmite cars DEFINITELY.

I love mine to death.........

Edited to say, pound for pound, I dont believe you can buy/build a better track bias car.

Damn, wont be in the country for 15th Oct (going to the 'ring hehe)

Think as said though, i need to sit in one and have a play. Its obviously going to be very different to anything that has been in my stable before.

Still, the idea and principle of a BEC realy does work for me ...

Once i have some time free, will give the contacts above a call and see whats what!

I have had my Fury ZX9R for 2 1/2 years and it is great fun. 140 bhp, 472 kg (even with full windscreen, heater), 6-speed sequential, 12,000 rpm., so it is excellent for track days, but is also quite civilised for touring / general use. However my wife doesn't appreciate the banshee wail and I have now reverted to a CEC again.

So my Fury is for sale at a bargain pre-winter price: see

Cheers

I might be asking a really stupid question here but does a Fury have any areas to store bags for travelling?

Plenty of Fury info on my build site: www.robcollingridge.com/kitcar

I'm about 4-6 weeks away from SVA test now. Can't wait. R1 engine, 160+bhp and ~425Kg on the road.

There is some storage space in the boot and above the side pods. I'm 6' and I reckon I'll have a fair bit of space behind the seats once they are in.

Used to be into Elises (www.elises.co.uk) but one go in a Fury R1 persuaded me that they are more interesting cars out there.

You can also fit an access panel to the top of one of the side pods (sill moudlings), if you wish. One side has the exhaust/silencer running through it (depends on the engine fitted whether this is driver's side or passenger side).

Hi, have you thought about a stylus www.specialistsportscars.com/ 400 or 600hp per ton and handling is excellent, in fact iv'e kicked TVR into touch and bought one.

Or the stylus at landau www.specialistsportscars.com/video/rt%20400%20ldow.avi

the lack of torque on a bike engine is not ideal for the road but jolly good on a track imo.

Or there this one a bit longer but the quality is not so good.

If your not at the Ring on 28th October it would be worth trying to get to Silverstone for the Birkett 6hr race. I'm racing in a team of bike engined Furys (with one Stuart Taylor Phoenix) called Posh & BECs.

There will also be a couple of other teams that I know of from the 750MC RGB (Roadgoing Bike Engined) series and we're a friendly bunch with lots of experience owning and running bike engined kits for both road and track.

If you don't find a car (some are for sale) you should get plenty of advice and contacts and see some good racing (Furys on track with everything from Radicals to Austin 7s and more besides!).

Hopefully see you there.
