Hi Guys
I dont normally post on this forum - I'm usually
on the TVR Wedge forum, but need some advice please.

I am happy with my Nikon D70 SLR for most of my photography
and also have an old Ricoh compact, but now want to buy a new compact.
The main criteria is small size to fit in my shirt breast pocket
and obviously a decent wide angle and optical zoom.
Cost is not an issue but would like value for money (being a Yorkshireman)

Can anyone recommend the best between all the big names or
does anyone know anything about the new Ricoh R4?

Many thanks
Richard

Thanks for this Greg
Does look good inc the small size
and I know a Ricoh dealer so may be able to get a discount
Do you know how this may compare to Sony, Canon or Olympus equivalents?

Cheers

Just found a small review of the R5 and it says its good, but that the R4's noise issues over iso 200 are not greatly improved and that there are a couple of glitches.

I'm sure that the glitches will be solved with a firmware upgrade and the reviewer seemed to think that the NR software just needed tweaking. (again, could be done via firmware)

I'll wait to see some more reviews.

I have been looking for a new copmact to replace my aging Pentax Optio S4, but to date there has not been one thats great enough to want to upgrade to.

I'll wait for the R6 then. rolleyes
