Is it a K&N Filter then?
I have the TCS high-flow, low clog filter and just wondered if it was the same.

Yes mine is the foam hi-flow filter. The std filters are fine until they become clogged up with dirt and grime, a good clean usually puts them right again. The hi-flow foam filters have an improved flow rate and cover a much greater surface area than the std filter, so offers better performance.

Yep true. But the main problem was that that original OEM filter was no longer available, and trying to find an alternative was difficult with quite a few people using a Griffith filter instead (which is dimensionally smaller). It's not so much the performance gain (if any) but the durability and cleanliness that are important. I am sure that both the "hi-flow" filters on sale at the moment are an improvement over the std filter.

i think it is, you might want to ask Tim, great quality though, i'm sure it had K&N clear-sealed packaging when i got mine. (this was before lemans)

Hi Paul,
The standard OEM filter is a 3 layer foam filter (7mm, 8mm and 9mm), bonded together to form a single filter, the side of the filter that faces atmosphere is flat. I had one of these filters sent off for analysis to check the flow rate and the PP rating (density of the foam), I then asked the company to produce a filter in a single piece as opposed to 3 ply with a more efficient flow rate, I didn't want something that was more restrictive than the standard filter and didn't want it to be too free flowing as to allow particles to pass through it, foam is one of the best medias available for allowing very efficient flow of air. Joolz had asked for it to have a convoluted (egg box packaging style) front face as this creates a greater surface area and also helps with the filter becoming "clogged up" less quickly. We tried and tested a couple of derivitives earlier this year and the results were very good, quite a few of the cars that have come in for Induction and mapping have them fitted. It's not ground breaking technology, but it's an improvement over the obsolete standard foam filter, and gives Cerb owners options again.

I think Jules has answered your question in great detail.
Just to ad i also have a Pipercross hig flow filter which they sent me some time ago as a sample which can be produced in any size, i've yet to stock them but plan to soon, so looks like there will be plenty to choose from available to Cerb owners.

Thanks Jules, that was brilliantly informative. Just one little problem. When you say "I then asked the company to produce a filter ..." do you mean TVR or the Air-flow testers ?
Actually what I'm really getting around to is are these commercially available ?
Mine currently supports its own eco-system and I would love to get rid in favour of something that protects AND performs. I used K&N on my bikes and was fairly inpressed but if the foam version you are describing has advantages then it would be preferable.
