cctv cameras and van on m6

[maryj911]

At the weekend i noticed a white van on a bridge on the southbound m6 north of birmingham. On the bridge were 3 cameras mounted on tripods. i noticed the van said something about CCTV.

Any ideas of what the purposes of this are?

Advanced Number Plate Recognition - cameras that scan your number plate and run it through the PNC (if I'm right) so they can see if you have tax, insurance, mot, warrant for your arrest, that sort of thing.
