I absolutely adore vintage Rods 'n Dragsters:

"Hustler I" without some of the sheet metal at Bakersfield in 1962. Doyle Hatfield Photo

1958

1959 Pontiac Custom Safari Station Wagon (style 2735) with a Pontiac-powered 'Slingshot' dragster.

Tommy Ivo 1960

The car was a standard Fuller "light weight" chassis. The wheelbase was 112 inches and the car weighed 960 lbs. The original engine was a 339 Cubic Inch Displacement (CID) Chevrolet small block, equipped with a 6-71 supercharger. The car classed as a A/GD started out running 172 mph with an elapsed time (ET) of 9.00 seconds. By the end of 1963 the speed had risen to 181 mph with an ET of 8.40 seconds. The little Chevrolet ran well, setting records and winning a lot of races; but it was unreliable. The car lost races when the engine broke.

More of this stuff here.

1964 - September 20th. Crossley-Williams-Swan Dragster "Kamakazi I" wins Top Fuel Eliminator at East Haddam, Connecticut Dragway, with a 8.15 ET and track record speed of 196.50 MPH run against A & B Speed Shop.

Amazing stuff. More here.

Pretty times for over 40 years ago. Look at the tires, the blocks in front of the driver: awesome.

I'll sort something out but basically I made them b&w using the gradient map and then used the colour adjustment to change the colour of the b&w image
