Win2K Server problem with WINS and DNS - any ideas?

For some reason my 2K server is misbehaving wrt DNS.

From a DOS box if I run nslookup then name resolving works fine, but if I open a browser or 'ping www.bbc.co.uk' then I get the can't find x.x.x non existant domain.

Now, I've had a look with Etheral and I see that for a broswer or a ping the namelookup is going out as a WINS request and not via DNS!

Any idea how I can stop this and get it back to using DNS?

ok, fixed it now,

For some reason a DNS Client Service was running (I must've been halluci-clicking again) once I disabled this then everything seems to be running as normal again.

You should have the DNS client running. How else would it query itself for DNS? Best advice is to ditch WINS completely.
