Fourth cheapest in Autotrader

Just stuck my car on Autotrader, thinking that I'd set my price about average for a 97 Cerb and was surprised to find that I'm actually fourth cheapest nationally. One of the ones that's cheaper is a Cat D. I wouldn't care, but I've put a £100 discount on my PH advert.
Have all the really cheap cars now been sold and we're left with only reasonably priced cars now? I might put my price back up!

I think theyre going cheap because WE let them go cheap. We all make the mistake of waiting till we HAVE to sell them, so we give in and drop the price.
The time to sell is when you are just THINKING of selling it - then put it up for sale at a decent price, sit and wait, and your under no no pressure to drop the price.

one day Cerbs will be worth alot of money, you may not beleive it now but they are already a Classic, the own engined big V8 flagship. the first road car to be given a race designed engine, and phonomenal performance that is still to be given respect today 10 years later, There is much out there that will out perform a Cerb on the roads...esp under 100k.
and FFS buy a good one.

It sad to see them go, and i agree to some degree that people putting them for sale low means its lowering the residuals, but unfortunately for those who want (or need) to sell its what the market will offer thats dictates the selling price, and i have tried mine at a slightly higher price.
Hayclon Atlantis Cerbs are the best, everyone needs to realise this

I've been doing my best to sell it for about a year now. In fact, I first started touting it for sale back at BB&T05, giving RafDug his first Cerb appreciation drive. He later went on to buy one - but not mine. I think the reason for this was that mine was priced according to it's condition, so it was more expensive than others on the market.
It's been more or less a repeat performance for the last year and I'm now at a point when I don't want to sit and wait any more. I've been doing my bit to bolster residuals, but when it's time to move on, the sit and wait appraoch will not get your car sold.

Crikey. If all's well that is phenomenally cheap.Lets face it though, with an advert that poorly thought out and worded it could be hiding a 100 things. It always amazes me thaqt people dont take time and effort with adverts for niche cars like this. It is the only contact they have with potential buyers. I feel so strongly about it I usually totally ignore cars with ads such as this as I feel it tells me alot about the owner. I could be totally wrong and cutting my nose off to spite my face of course

I'm looking to buy in Jan/Feb when we've completed paying off a previous car loan. Of those I've seen, yours (Mr Diddyman) is one of the better ones.
As a potential buyer, perhaps some of you other sellers may be interested in what I'm looking at? If not, turn away now:
I read all the threads on this forum (yep, I spent an entertaining few nights in front of my laptop screen) detailing the good work done by the independent tuners and servicing agents. Since then I have tried to single out only those that have had recent attention by one of those agents. I come from the kit car world where there are two types of owners: 1) those that find the best people to do the best work, and 2) those that simply rely on factory support. In my experience the factory is never at the cutting edge of performance upgrades, neither are they the first people to resolve design-issues. In fact, some manufacturers never even get around to acknowledging the design issues, and therefore never address them at all.
Next was engine. I only want a 4.5. The stories of broken 4.2 cranks worried me and a Cerb without a V8 seems hollow.
Next was colour. I would have liked a black one with tan leather interior. There's something about the shape of the car which would make a black one look especially "mean" creeping around at 120mph on the motorways (I'm not very PC when it comes to speed). One with this colour scheme was up for sale until a couple of weeks back when it dropped off the PH sales listings. I haven't pursued the seller as I'm not yet in a position to buy. However, that one didn't reference any of the independent dealers so I would now be more cautious.
Since seeing NeilP's red one (with tan leather) last weekend, my head has been turned a little towards that colour scheme. My last toy car was blue so I originally wanted to avoid blue again, however Mr Diddyman (again), yours looks superb.
I also wished to avoid a grey interior. I was at school in the early 1980s when that grey was prevalent and it's rather put me off. With all the fabulous interiors available from TVR it seems a shame to go for a rather drab interior...
... however the condition of the interior is important. While I remain amazed at the excellent prices that Cerbs are selling for (excellent from a buyer's perspective) there is a lot of choice, therefore a buyer can afford to hold out for one with an interior that hasn't gone "tired".
On that last note, those that have been fitted with the later Spider wheels are also high on my list. I know they're not original equipment but they sure are pretty wheels and suit the car very well.
Other strong selling points would be:
->list of replaced components with dates/mileages since replacement (especially interested in starter motor and clutch)
->fancy new decatted and linked exhaust IFF (if and only if) the original was available for MoT time (unless you lot have another trick up your sleeve for that)
->a car that has been converted to run on an Emerald. I'm very familiar with Emeralds and will probably change any car I buy to run on one anyway. If it had already been done, that would save me £600 plus £250 for a day in Watton.
->Uprated "anything" (brakes, big fuse, stereo - I like the idea of the sub in the helmet hole)
One thing I don't mind either way is the headlights. I rather like the original look as well as the new ones (new ones that are blended-in look better than new ones that haven't been).
I don't much care for the new rear light upgrades though. The originals look fine.
Location is irrelevant to a point. I live in the Midlands and won't travel to the SE on a whim. It'd need to look great on the spec-sheet for me to travel that far. But I *will* travel anywhere to get the right motor.
Not intending to pee anyone off. I am actually considering a few that are less than perfect overall because they have something in particular that has drawn my attention to them.
At the end of the day, I still can't believe what great cars they are for the money. If you consider that I bought a top-spec Caterham 7 for £29K in 1999, then spent about £5-6K per year on engine and other improvements (I didn't need do - I just got addicted to a performance increase path) until I sold the whole banana last year for £17K, then a 2nd hand Cerb seems to offer so much more of just about everything for so much less.
