A little story for you guys.
Joo and I have had a few spats in our time but recently we have had a few chats at race meets etc and I was very impressed with his attitude to tuning and his feelings that you shouldn't have to spend vast ammounts of money getting your car running to it's best capability.

I was massively disapointed after fitting the MC1 cam and ACT trumpets to find that on the Power Enginering rolling road at Uxbridge I only had 204BHP and 200ftlb of torque and it was still almost impossible to drive in slow traffic on the M25.

Anyway Ian at Middlewich fitted one of the TVR Power chips and had a play, much better but still not very nice in traffic.

Cometh the hour, cometh the man. I enginered a run oop north and booked myself in with Joo and he spent 3 hours on my car on the rolling road, he went through everything, including airflow meter, throttle pot, stepper motor and tried advancing and retarding timing and reset everything.

Result 224BHP 250ftlb and much smoother and stronger under 3k.

Man or Myth?: Man and Vicky looked after me very nicely as well

VFM: £156 plus VAT, definately.

Conclusion: Whilst Joo and I will never agree on damper kits and will probably fight like a pair of old tarts, I am very impressed with his attitude to tuning and his attention to detail.

Yeh, nice one Derek. You didn't have to go or post, but you did. Appreciate the honesty and will now bear him in mind in future.

great to read amd echoes my experience of him from three years ago when i was in that neck of the woods and he spent a long time doing a number of fiddly jobs and frankly didn't charge me enough for them. A good bloke with TVR drivers and their cars interest's at heart. Which is why when i needed some new kit recently i made sure it was ordered by the dealer through Joo for them to fit it down here - here being the Sarf.

I think it's a myth. I know he's the only representative of Track Car Solutions that we ever see, but no one man could possibly know that much about so many aspects of TVR performance. I reckon there's a team beavering away behind the scenes, a bit like 'Honest John' in the papers.

Derek,

Glad that all has worked out well for you, funny that you posted this because I was party to a conversation last night that pretty much supported your experience.

What are you running? 400 or a 450?

If that's a 400 then wow!

Hope not. "Honest John" is a plonker.

Joo & Vicky are a top team, it's just a pity they are not closer to me. Joo really transformed the handling of my Chim 500 by fitting the Protech springs and dampers and upgrading the bushes to powerflex ones.
