Ventilation/fans steaming up

With winter fast approaching I'd like to see if I can sort out a few of the issue I had last winter. One of these was the windows steaming up, I know the rainx interior stuff helps a bit. I use the wedge nearly every day, summer or not.

I think, and I'm sure I've read that one of the reasons the windows steam up is lack of ventilation for air to change inside the car. Could a vent be fitted between the cabin and the boot (as I'm guessing the boot isn't too airtight). I think the griffs have something similar (can't see what else it is for).

Is it possible to improve the power of the fan that blows air into the cabin, so it will reach further up the windscreen.

As my interior is based on a 350i I have no side fans/vents for the side windows, can a subsitute be fitted in any way?

I'm not after a quick fix and am prepared to spend a bit of time and money to sort this out. If not I'll just have to keep the roof down, that's the easy solution.

I'm contemplating the same situation. I wondered if those plug in ceramic heaters are any good, for a bit of extra warmth...

I think some wedges do not actually have an air supply from outside - they recirculate the air .. so that makes them steam up quickly in rain.

Job for the winter.

That's exactly what I think my problem is. Mind you the plastic membranes behind to door cards have failed and a hurricane of cold air comes in by the interior door handle and also up the drop glass. Unfortunately it doesn’t get anywhere near the screen.

Check your bonnet for a vent neer the windscreen. Some Wedges draw air through this vent into the vent then into the heater box. Still crap though.

Well, my 390SE has yet another type of heater box, that makes 4 different types I've seen, plus my custon one in my old FHC that actually cleared the screen.

I have the vents through the bonnet feeding into 2 boxes supplying the 2 heater fans. It appears to work eventually but I intend to see whether one fan is strong enough as when I had it all apart last year, fixing the wipers, that seemed to be powerful enough. At that stage I had found that the pipes to the heater were leaking and so as it heated and cleared the windscreen the evaporated water started drying and steamed up the cleared windows again.

The heater flap doesn’t work that well so I can bung up the foot well vents to assist.

If one fan works ok I am going to cut off one box and attach a tube from it to the front to get forced air through thus saving the volts.

Of course having a FHC I can open the roof vent to assist air movement which you would think would be very efficient but only serves to clear the back window (the heated rear screen doesn't work either) and allows exhaust fumes in which are at least warm so must buy new seals.

You could spend some money (why not?) on a new heater system from the kit car suppliers or from the kenlowe site.

I have just blocked up all vents except the screen for a de-mist trial. I figured that since I drive with the top down in winter clad in a leather jacket and gloves to keep warm anyway, what's the point using the other vents even when the hood is up?
