Anyone using one of these?

I'm due to get one installed on Saturday. Comes with UK speed camera database pre-loaded but is possible to download Garmin file updates from speed camera databases.

I was going to go for the Pioneer AVIC but was reccommended the Kenwood system as being more uptodate, as the Pioneer AVIC has been going for a little while.

I'm pairing it with a Single DIN screen Kenwood KVT-627DVD.

Can't find any reviews of the system.

Dont know about that one, but saw the adverts for the new Kenwood double-DIN one which looks the biz. DVD player, satnav and high power head unit all in one. The screen is the whole front and being double-DIN looks great! Oh, and the satnav is stored on flash memory rather than a disk (but can be updated) so you can listen to a CD AND have navigation at the same time....

I cant find the product name / number... but look on the following link and see the top picture - thats the beastie...

www.kenwood-electronics.co.uk/products/car/

£1000 base price looks very competitive too....

My system is similar but no room for a double DIN system in a TVR. I've gone for motorized screen.

Looks the business, I'll post a review once I've had a play on Saturday.

So far the system appears very good, although I'm still keeping both hands on the wheel driving my new car.

Managed to find a nice pub, which I never would have found using the SatNav system. The system also guided me home adjusting the root if I chose to deviate or miss a turn.

I'm in the process of loading the speed camera database and am going to have a look at that to see how good it is, so far very impressed. The system stores information on an SD card, so I need to go out and buy a reader.

My only gripe would be that Kenwood seem to give you a basic system, but then charge for everything. I'm ummming and arring over paying an extra £110 for the traffic alert system, which works via FM and does not come as standard.

TMC - I have an AA Navigator which has this functionality. BUT, for the portable systems it a bit of a hassle - you have to have a cable scattered around. The only other alternative is that you need an aerial adaptor which isnt simple to fit. The big advantage of the integrated units is that its got everything and no issues - so I would recommend TMC if you can afford it.

Oh, and TMC does work too - not brilliant but adds extra information for making a decision when the roads are stuffed. I wouldnt be without it now since its saved me from several hours stuck on motorways.....

So for £800 more than the one, what does it do better??
Don't get me wrong, All of my stereo system is Kenwood and would love a Kenny sat nav, But my One does everything your mentioned, plus uses my Mobile for traffic, which is far better than the TMC system that can only handle so many alerts.
(make sure you get free GPS though or it will cost a fortune!!)

Ive had the fully intergrated Alpine system on previous cars , but then i bought a tom tom and its fantastic paid peanuts for it and it does the job , the car came with a 9 speaker DAB system so i couldnt see the point in ripping it out , so added a subwoofer and got the sub channel enabled by vauxhall and it sounds fantastic

To answer your question, the conveniance for me is that I don't have to fuss around with lighter sockets etc.

System is already fitted into the car, for me that was important. I do appreciate there is a not insignificant price premium attached and see your point.
