Has anyone experienced a problem with the radio on the Monaro (2004 CV8), whereby when either the volume up, volume down or mute buttons on the steering wheel perform other functions (such as radio station change, band change etc), or all the same function?

The funny thing is that when I press Mute & the channel chages to an untunned one with very load hiss (usually as I answer the hands-free phone), I then try & guess what button I should press instead, rather than the OFF button.

As I'm doing more driving at the moment, it's getting a bit annoying. If I have to take it to a dealer, can I go to my local Vauxhall one or should I use a Monaro outlet?

Thoughts please.

Not sure if this is the same thing, but in the Commodore, occasionally when you press the next track button, it changes the mode etc. Probably happens about 1 time out of 20, so not sure, but would suspect it is a common thing. For memory, the control works of voltages to determine what was selected... Something like this, but not 100% certain it is this way. 0 volts, nothing happens, situation normal. 2.5 volts = next track, 5 volts=previous track, 7.5 volts=next mode, 10 volts=volume up... etc.. might be a bit of muck or something in the switch causing it to register a lower voltage.

Anyhow, not 100% sure.

I see what you mean. I thought it might be a loose conenction due to excess vibration (at 1900 rpm, the car counds like a Dakota). I'm not sure I want to start fishing around in the controls at the steering wheel. It could of course be the conenction at the other end. Are there any manuals or instructions available online?

Happens quite a bit I believe. Pretty sure the airbag has to be moved to get at the controls.
