Has anyone else here got a 400D yet?? I've treated myself as its my birthday at the weekend and ordered one. Should have it early next week hopefully...

Bought one in Japan 3 weeks ago. It's my first DSLR but I'm mighty happy with it. The lens you get with it is OK, nothing more.

Would that be the standard 18-55 lens?

That would indeed. I've upgraded to an EF-S 17-85 IS USM which seems to be a lot better build and takes better pictures.

I put a zip of a few pics up for another forums here www.robbieduncan.net/TokyoExamples.zip The first two pics are the standard 18-55, the other 4 are with the 17-85...

A stroll round the Emperors palace I see. Immaculate isn't it.

The dragon water fall - was that at the shrine just up from Yoyogi park at the back of the tube station ?

The dragon was in Kyoto actually. Did visit the Meji shrine as well though...

I just got one yesterday!

Got the Tamron 70 - 300mm lens with it too for £99. Probably not the best one in the world but it takes awesome pics by my standard! Can't wait to get used to all the different possibilities. Previously had a Sony V1 (prosumer thing) so not a total stranger to the world of photography but this is my first proper SLR and so far very impressed.

First crap photo attempt:
