Took my T350c for a spin to Portugal......................
Discussion
...........and it was great fun so thought I'd share the experience.
Ok, so much of the journey was done by boat - we took the P&O Ferry to Bilbao and then headed for northern Portugal. From Bilbao we headed for a place called San Vicente, then took the N621 to Leon - this road was fantastic and goes through the Picos de Europa mountain range. The scenary is spectacular and the road is perfect for a TVR - smooth with lots of long straights and then 2nd/3rd gear corners. Nobody else on them and at one point reaches a height of 1500metres. With an overnight stop in Leon, we then headed further west across the N631 and then the A120 to Northern Portugal - again, the roads were fantastic.
On the way back, took a similar route, however, took the N626, then the N625 and finally the N114 through the Picos de Europa mountain range. Just great for a T350c
.
In all, mileage covered was just over 1300. I've given the specifc road details as I can't recommend this enough to anybody who wishes for a decent holiday and enjoy their car at the same time. (I'd be glad to give an details about accomdation if anybody wishes to do a similar thing)
The car behaved pretty well also, problems encountered:
1) Pulling out of a MacDonalds on the way to Portsmouth, had a ground strike and cracked the diffuser underneath
2) Couldn't get in any of the hotel car parks as they were all underground and T350c ground clearance does not allow for such ramps. However, did have a go at the first hotel (and failed) and in the process the garage door closed on the car and scraped the paint work
3) Scuffed the both near side alloys
4) Had new discs & pads fitted only 2500 miles ago but once again, getting steering wheel shake under light braking (this started happening on the run down through the Picos de Europa)
All in all, excellent holiday which the misses enjoyed as well.
Regards
Antony
P.S. The bonus is that petrol is very cheap in Spain!!
