A West Yorkshire head teacher has banned books containing stories about pigs from the classroom in case they offend Muslim children. WTF
The literature has been removed from classes for under-sevens at Park Road Junior Infant and Nursery School in Batley.
Head Barbara Harris said the books would remain in the school library for children to read.
Sixty per cent of the school's pupils are of Pakistani or Indian origin and 99% of these pupils are Muslims.
Mrs Harris said in a statement: "Recently I have been aware of an occasion where young Muslim children in class were read stories about pigs.
"We try to be sensitive to the fact that for Muslims talk of pigs is offensive."
The head teacher sent a memo to staff saying fiction books containing stories about pigs should be removed from early years and key stage one classrooms.
Mrs Harris added: "The books remain in the school library and there is nothing to stop our younger children having stories such as 'The Three Little Pigs' in small groups."
The world is really going mad. How can the 3 little pigs be offensive to a Muslim child? I know I can't really say seeing as I am not a Muslim but still, it seems a little over the top to me.

It's PC gone mad. At a client site where I work they occasionally give out a voucher for free breakfast. Nothing wrong in that you say, but once it was during Ramadam. They then issued a crawling apology to the effect that they were very sorry and there was no intent to offend those people who couldn't eat during the day, etc, etc. FFS!

Why does my more primitive side scream at me that I am beginning to find Muslims offensive to humanity given recent events and stories such as this. My ever slightly more sophisticated half is finding politcally correct teachers extremely offensive - next we'll be banning Biggles books and war stories if they haven't already.

What if one of the Muslim kids said he was offended at having to share a class with a non Muslim. I presume that non Muslim kids would then be bannished to the library where they could teach themselves if they wished !! FFS !

I would think there are many muslim's out there having read this story who will be cringing with embarrassment, confusion and dismay at yet another ill thought out decision being implemented in their name.
You can guarantee not one parent muslim or otherwise was consulted at that school.
I am convinced you can blame a good chunk of racial disharmony in this country on the do-gooders who raise issues and create in peoples mind a problem that previously didn't exist.

Can i just Add to say that if the population of asian in the school is 60% then of these only 1%would be indian. As if they have an indian origin they would either be sikh, hindu, or christian and NOT muslim. They have been century's of war and aggression between these 2 states and these religions do not have any similarities.
Also it is not the first time this has happened Bar Bar Black sheep was banned from schools nurserys in bham and in the ethinic minority communities as it was deemed racist.

It's getting downright dangerous to get children educated (if it can be called that anymore) in Britain.
Where is the reality FFS???? There ARE blacks on the street, there ARE people who don't want to eat pork! So effin what? does that mean our children have to be given a serious mental quirk (inferiority complex) so that they don't offend some really minor minority!!!

I would imagine that people of the Jewish religion must be perplexed. There have been large number of them in the UK for a lot longer than the Muslim population, and books about Pigs have never been banned on their account.
The biggest problem with this country is apathy, uunfortunately we all put up with this PC crap.
