HELP - ALARM

Last week my alarm on my 500 wouldnt stop going off. In desperation when I got home I cut the wire in the bonnet that connects to the siren speaker thing, but it still continued all be it in a lower sounding way! Anyway I put it in the garage and left it. Obviously a week later the battery was flat so I re-charged it last night. Howver now the interior lights are permanemtly on even with the door closed and when I open or close the doors the hazard lights start to flash. The key fob does not seem to have any effect on things and won't open or close the doors or switch off the hazards. I suspect that this all me down to me cutting the wire however ..... anyway I'm stuck... any ideas guys?

Standard META behaviour after a flat battery. Remove the earth cable from the car battery for 5 secs, then reconnect. Alarm will reset you should find it works ok - try the key fob straight away to be sure. Ive used this technique 2 times recently when my main battery went flat and the keyfob wouldnt do anything after I recharged it.

Not sure what the impact of cutting the cable will be, you might want to reconnect it. IIRC the siren is on a multiplug and can just be left disconnected without cutting any wires or doing anything to the alarm itself.

One of the problems that sets the alarms of alot is the door pin sensors, They can brake or if the door isnt shut fully not align properly and go full in,or if the door may have dropped slightly may cause a problem at the same point.

I would rejoin your wire and as said bigdods reset your alarm through the battery. IS ther a a push fob somewhere to reset the alarm?

Yes well never been mechanically minded just love driving them. Anyway thanks guys as disconnnecting and then reconnecting got it working straight away.

- if you pulled the large rubber grommet out of the inner wing that the wire goes through theres a multiplug behind you could have just disconnected -

Exactly the same thing happened with my siren, worked again for a while then started going off on its own, they are very exposed behind the radiator, you may be lucky and pick up one on ebay as they are not made anymore and the new type needs a wiring mod
