Authorised servicing etc
Discussion
Considering a VXR of some description (anyone bought/tried the 500bhp ones at Greens by the way?) and wondered what the situation is on sevicing etc. I'm based in South Yorks. Is it a specialist job for certian Vauxhall dealers only, and if so where are they?I had a HSV a few years ago and ny local dealer happily dealt with it, but I gain the impression things might have changed.
The supercharged ones you will certainly want to take somewhere that specialises. Otherwise, there are a few good known dealers and some independants around for the standard one. Basically all the ones that advertise here will be up for it. Take your chances with the rest.

Think this is the Monaro specialists

I know at least one in that list that I wouldn't go anywhere near.
Unfortunately PH policy doesn't allow me to say

I know several.....and just because they sell them, doesn't mean their any good at fixing them.
It is a shame that once the sales team have got your money, then you just become a "statistic" rather than a customer. There are some notable exceptions, some advertise here, some dont.

forget the one in Scotland - just had chat with V6 JDT re his latest fiasco with them fitting his brakes. Lets just say I wasnt surprised it didnt happen first time!!! Stu Harris if you're reading - please please get someone in Vauxhall to appoint a reliable dealer in Scotland.
I'm bringing my car down to Silverstone with the intention of getting the spring recall work done at a certain dealer rather than waste my time with the crowd 40 miles from me. Why the hell my local dealer 500yds away was refused the parts I'll never understand and the Vauxhall help line were shall we say less than helpful!! I'd have thought any qualified Vauxhall mechanic should be capable of clipping on a spring and painting a yellow dot on the frame - of course maybe they need specialist training to attach the sticker in the engine bay.

Yorkshire seems to be missed out altogether. Derby is nearest to me, but there's only Middlesborough between there and Scotland. That's one dealer in 300 miles!
The one in Middlesborough, I got some parts for the Monaro. As with alot of places over here, customer service was non existant, and well, only used them because they were close, but will never use them again.
From what I hear on here and personal experience there are three which I would trust my car to;
Picador, Monkfish & Greens, although Monkfish are not a Vauxhall dealer.
Am sure there are other good ones out there too. I have noticed quite a bit of difference between standard Vauxhall dealers and Authorised ones. Standard dealers do not see the volume of cars and cannot order parts direct so are less able.

Am also in South Yorkshire. Go on do it, you know you want to. Unfortunatly no local dealer, you want any kind of service your gonna have to head south a couple of hundred miles, but be aware, they'll take all youre cash. Seen the 500 and it looks impressive, not a winter modification, i'm going to look again next spring when the first service comes up. Mail me if you need to tap into the wealth of my in experiance.
That all sounds a bit disappointing. I really don't want to have to rely on some dealer at the other end of the country for every problem. I just don't have the time. I reckon Vauxhall need to get their act in order if they're serious about building this VXR brand. Just one authorised dealer in 300 miles is a joke, as it seems are a lot of the existing ones. Used to have an HSV and my local dealer just got on with it. Can't see why this is so different.

Guess it depends on what you want, personally the VXR suits me fine and I’d take it as far as it needs to get what I want done. Don’t sound like the Monaro is what you are looking for, hope you find what you need!
Thing is, I aready have one car (a Noble) which is a pain to get serviced/fettled. I don't really need another one - particularly when it's an every day car. I can get a Porsche, Ferrari, TVR etc sorted locally. Why not a Vauxhall!?

A normal dealer can do a normal service.
Just that the approved ones are supposed to know what they are doing. The ones I mentioned here add additional value too.
Personally I would rather drive 50 miles to get my car done properly.

A normal dealer can't do a normal service though, that's the problem. Has to be a Monaro specialist.
